Glad to see this happening.

For the next Barnstormers 2020, we will insure that this is in place for the first event or we will delay the first event accordingly.

Signup sheet coming out as soon as I can get our 2020 dates finalized and our main page completed by SOM.

Moose, your putting a metaphorical gun last year to SOM's head worked great and they deserved it.

But your approach this time is way too heavy handed. They are probably looking to implement it whenever they come out with ATG 9. But to hold up the next tour unless SOM changes the rules for ATG 8 to suit you is, at best, ill-advised IMHO.

Maybe you should just ask Garcia what their intentions are with ATG and the new super reliever modifications rather than resorting to threats to shut down the tour if they don't heel on command.

In any event not all the new changes should even apply to ATG. Specifically, increasing the pure relievers from 4 to 5. In ATG you only need three, clearly that particular rule should only be applicable to 20xx seasons. Similarly, the slow hook function modification can be circumvented by not using it and just using the F function. Ditto the two role limitation per reliever. Just put Dale Murray in for middle man and set up and use F5 and he will close most of his outings as well.

The main rule changes that should translate to ATG are the pitch count modifications as well as the potential for an extra day of rest after a long outing. Even with these, why insist on these untested changes (by the community) in the next tour when we haven't even had the opportunity to see how they work.

If you insist on threatening SOM by postponing or ending the tour, at least give them a full year to implement the modifications with ATG so that the community can learn to adapt to them, to see what works and how well and what doesn't.

You're right, I haven't talked to Garcia yet. I was just assuming this was close to rollout. I need to run this by him first. - thanks :D

I was told "mid to early april" for the ATG rollout of the pitching revisions. Right now I am going to push back the start by about a week from last year and get them fed to SOM. Once they take those and ready our 2020 page, I will drop in the signup sheet. It is therefore expected then that all events will use the new pitching changes.

From some of the early returns I'm seeing from 2019 Leagues, this change might create an unintended consequence. Seems like it is creating even more offense (like we need that here).………

I'm really not sure how I feel about the Super Reliever thing. As I've seen many say, nobody complains when a hitter hits 100 HR or has 220 RBI, but we are upset when Relievers throw 200 IP? I think much of the ire is directed toward Dale Murray in our game. What if the Murray issue was fixed, instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

In DH leagues, an RP can be injured for 15 games. In lower cap leagues, that often causes the specialists to see multiple innings of bombardment.

If Dale Murray is unrealistic as far as real baseball is concerned, so is going 15 MLB games without calling up a few guys for the pen to rotate through the games to pick up the innings slack.

You're missing the HUGE difference.

Bonds hits 100 HR within the rules of the SOM game.

Murray pitches 350 innings at a low 3.00 ERA because the rules of the SOM game don't apply to the 365 game.

From the CD-ROM/internet SOM game

This rule prevents relievers from returning too soon after pitching a large number of innings. Here is the text of the rule (which is rule 27.65 in the board game)- If a reliever pitches 2 or more innings above his relief fatigue rating then he must rest one day before his next appearance. If he pitches 3 or more innings above his relief fatigue rating then he must rest two days before his next appearance. If a relief pitcher is used without this proper amount of rest, consider him fatigued for the entire relief outing.

I don't really care about this, but the end of super relievers will have unintended consequences. If SOM did a better job on their cards, this would not be an issue. Why not fix the Murray card, and others, instead of broad, sweeping legislation? And, the point about Bonds hitting 100 home runs just illustrates many issues exist with the cards, if you want to get truthful about everything -- not just the super reliever aspect. So...you game the cards and the game, that's what we do, we are gamers. 'Nuff said.
