MLB coming...in May?

I have heard similar things from people that should be in the know here in PA. We are looking at mid-June, no one will return to school this year.

If we shut down the economy for that long we will be in big trouble. Reported today that 1.9% of all death in New York are due only to the Virus. If you got the Virus and you die they list the virus as cause of Death.

We need to get back to work or there wont be anything to go back to. Trying to find a job after that long will be almost impossible.

At the rate we are going there will be nothing left for my kids. I will take the chance. I am taking the chance as I still work 65 hours a week. I am out there 5 days a week. I have weighed the options. I am working.

Is it more cost effective to do the recalls or just pay out on the lawsuits?

It is my opinion, when this is over, we will have more deaths due to economics than from the virus. And yes, regardless of the actual cause of death, they are counting it as a virus death if one was infected. Like Chase, I'll take my chances.

Suicide, depression, drug use, economy related murders, alcoholism, stress? There have been numerous studies relating to economic hardship and death rates. Current estimates are showing 60,000 virus related deaths, no worse than a very bad flu season. Included in the coronavirus deaths are terminally ill cancer patients who have contracted the virus, patients diagnosed with other diseases, and so on. Regardless of the symptoms, if you die with the corona virus, at present its a coronavirus death.

I'm not discounting the serious of the virus, but we've reached the point where the cure is worse than the symptom. Did you hear about the Las Vegas business owner that had to close his doors, lay off his 45 employees, than promptly committed suicide? I'm guessing not, because it doesn't fit the media's agenda. Sorry, it's time to get back to the nations business. I'm close to the at-risk age (63), and while I have no children or grandchildren, I'd be happy to take my chances so they have a fighting chance for a better life for themselves.

The numbers which I dont have on me but have heard is that many will die from so much more that this Virus will do. Child Abuse calls are way down. Why? Because the abuser is home all the time. He/She cant go to work or the Bar or a friends house. Divorce is way up. Men/Women are beating the other at a higher rate. Living alone with no contact. People in "Old Folks Homes" are locked in their rooms and not getting therapy. I set up for a Colonoscopy and dont expect to get one this year. Cancer surgeries are canceled. Elective surgeries are every surgery have been cancelled. This Virus has put everything on hold. My Doctor will be doing a Biopsy on my back and he has tremors so bad that when he holds his hands up you would think he was waving at you. Going to get it done any way. He is the only one I can find.

This Virus has caused us to stop everything going on. We have to move on or we will be far worse off.

I am taking my chances because my children and grandchild deserve it. I am 57. So do all the small business owners that have spent their lives building a piece of the pie. Nice Post Jerlins.

This is a very insidious virus. I do not believe there is a viable choice to open up the economy and just absorb an exponential growth in infections. It will not work. Our health care system will utterly collapse. Nurses and doctors are already at the brink of collapse. People will not want to work or go into public when, if they are not worried about themselves, they are very worried about infecting their family. If we reopen before we are ready and get exponential infection rates again then we have to lock down again and then were in even more trouble.

Reopening needs to be done soon but the groundwork needs to be laid which would include: as draconian as possible national lockdown to get the infection rates down to a more manageable level while at the same time the federal government should be putting enormous resources into developing testing capacity the world has never seen before (including testing for people who have recovered). We really have to have confidence if you're going into public there is a low chance you're sick (either you're immune or you have been recently tested). If testing everyone is impossible--and it might be (though I am wondering if we put 2 trillion dollars into testing like we did with the stimulus plan what kind of testing we could get?) but no matter what testing should be increased massively--then maybe mathematicians could figure a way to optimally randomly test people in certain areas on a daily basis and flood areas with testing that seem to be coming back.

This is an incredibly difficult problem and we have to face it head-on and try to solve it. Our president is engaging in magical thinking that it will go away "like a miracle". He is refusing to do large-scale testing or coordinate a federal response.I think we are pretty much screwed right now.
