Anybody else seeing this?

Due to everyone being at home I'm seeing leagues fill up more quickly, and also seeing some unfamiliar "faces" in the leagues.

This is leading to a sense of guilt on my part, because having newer or out of practice players in my leagues is resulting in autodrafts I've never even dreamed of. I've got multiple teams in the works where I've landed things along the lines of Pedro, Kershaw, Duren, Henry, Pineiro, Klippstein, Sutton, Heredia, Wheeler, Arroyo, Donald, Urbina on the staff with Burgess, Lajoie, Wagner, Seymor, Speaker, Cobb, Mariano Duncan, Shano Collins, Arky Vaughn, Dahleen, etc. as hitters and I'm faced with several sophie's choices of who to get rid of from my prized guys. Usually flood my draft card with these guys hoping to get a fraction of them and now I've landed like 90%of them in several successive drafts. As I begin to lay waste to these leagues I only hope my competitors view it with curiosity and learning rather than discouragement! -matt

I've answered more questions from 1st time managers in the 20XX Forum in the past month than I have in the past 3 years.

It sounds like ATG is seeing a similar increase in participation.

Use league messaging to take this opportunity to offer advice to the new people in your league. Welcome them to the game......point out the problems with their teams.......mention the boards.....

Let's keep them around for the long haul.

Well why don't we help some these guys out? A lot of guys helped me out when I first started out. I don't want to leave anyone out but all most all of the old timers helped me out at one time or another with some helpful advice. One guy I remember who gave me a ton of advice was agabriel. In fact a lot of Adrian's advice was unsolicited but he was so nice about it and I really needed the advice because I really sucked at first. So I really appreciated his advice along with the advice of everyone else. If any newbies have questions I'm all ears but I don't know if my advice is that great lately because I haven't been in the playoffs for over six months and haven't won a ring in almost a year. In other words I suck again. I guess I'll have to fire my long time manager. But seriously there are a lot of great players so you new guys pick their brains.

Adrian is a good role model because his advice was unsolicited. Take the initiative and message some pointers to your league mates.

Hey, new to this’ish. Played strat-o-matic on the board game in leagues beginning in the late 1970’s. I was better than average but nothing special. Got lucky once and won a highly competitive league. I was not the best manager. I just had a great string of rolling the dice, or at least better than everyone else. Haven’t played since 1993. Miss rolling the dice. But miss the game and wanted to try this. I’d appreciate any pointers... ~ Ted

I along with most other people here are more than willing to help out new players. If you have any specific questions or concerns feel free to reach out and I'll try to guide you as best as I can.

Uh oh, that guy is in Rich's division. I can see his advice now: "Every team needs to have a really strong bench as insurance for the starting lineup so be sure to set aside $5-6m to shore-up your backups."

I always give honest advice and you know that as well as anyone. Sometimes brutally honest. Some people don't like it when you say their team sucks.

Both y'all kick my a** routinely, so my advice is play in a league that niether of you are in!
