Yes. The other more minor issue is Buster Posey. On this one, those minimums based on the length of the contract were to be applied to free agent signings. If it also applies to contract extensions for players we currently control that's fine with me as long as it's the same for everyone.

Lol, seeing that I now agree with Paul Long again. And yes, let's make that the final iteration of the rule. 4 year extensions are at the 50% mark. 5 year extensions are at the higher of the carded salary or 25% mark.

I need to redo my keepers and will post momentarily.

Here are the 3-4 players whose salaries are over the top 50% rule and who can be signed for less than their current card value based on the chat thread discussion:

Bregman, Alex
Bellinger, Cody
Story, Trevor
Marte, Ketel
Albies, Ozzie
Devers, Rafael
Chapman, Matt
Kepler, Max
Bell, Josh
Garver, Mitch
Merrifield, Whit
Muncy, Max
Contreras, Willson

Flaherty, Jack
Giolito, Lucas
Clevinger, Mike
Castillo, Luis
Montas, Frankie
Maeda, Kenta
Urias, Julio

Lugo, Seth
Hader, Josh
Rogers, Taylor
Garcia, Jarlin

As for extending the 6+ guys, I will be applying the free agent signing contract minimums. Posey is $2 mil.

Would everyone please re-post their keepers based on this final interpretation of the salary extension rules?

To be clear:

6+ year players are signed at their current salary or the contract minimum salary based on the years extended, which ever is higher.

5 years players are extended for five or more years at the avg salary of the top 25% of players at their primary position OR their current salary, whichever is higher.

3-4 year players are extended for four years at the avg salary of the top 50% of players at their primary position.

1-2 year players are renewed at their current salary or the league minimum salary, whichever is higher.

Are we good?

An extremely minor quibble but Paul Kibbins contract for Archer should be $1M/2y per the minimum salary rules, not 0.88 per.

making sure I am understanding this correctly. Right now Harrison Bader has 3 years of service and a SOM card price of $3.19M

I can:

1. extend him for 4 years at the top 50% of CF price of 5.38M (no thanks)
2. take him to arbitration (arb1) where he will either get next year's SOM card price OR $2.00M (from the Major League Salaries chart on rule 9.05 of league rules)
3. cut him? meaning not offer him a contract for next year. is this an option as well.
