Hazardous Duty Pay for Shortstop?

PostSun Apr 26, 2020 10:22 am

Murphy's Law for Team Rosters states if you have one position with only two eligible players (excluding catcher, which has a special rule), you will suffer two injuries to that position at the same time.

Game 56 Aparicio goes down for 3 games
Game 57 Causey goes down for 1 game

Jake Wood, not rated at SS (thus, SS-5 ugh!) comes in and plays SS for most of game 57*

Game 58, Jake Wood gets injured for two games!

But at least Wood wasn't playing shortstop this game; I had picked up somebody else between series. Fortunately, my new shortstop Buddin made it through game 58 without incident. Also, I was lucky game 57 was game 3 of the series, allowing me to get a replacement. I really didn't want to have a SS-5 for even one (entire) game.

*Wood didn't make any errors, but my team gave up 12 runs. Coincidence?! Ironically, Mazeroski (2B-1 e15) made two errors that game.
