Doc Medich's Incredible No-Hitter

Doc Medich (.53M) throws no-hitter in Chicks Dig the Longball Theme League. Against this lineup in '78 Fulton, what are the odds?

That is unfathomable!!!
He must have been using salve or nail files....

In 1978 draft league, using the board game, we once had Buddy Solomon (4.08 ERA) Braves pitcher, pitch an 11 and 1/3 inning perfect game (and then he lost the game in the 12th on a HR by Rick Monday.
That game Solomon face a lineup of Billy North, Dave Lopes, Luzinski, Schmidt, Monday, Chambliss, OzzieSmith, Tenace

And now his ERA has been reduced to north of 12.00 after a horrendous season. Amazing feat.

The interesting thing to me about Scumby's team is that--with almost nothing spent on either the SPs or bullpen--they're winning. Team ERA in a 130M league: 11.23. Team OPS: 1.244. Team Record: 75-57.

It looks as if league rules preclude more than a minimum being spent on pitching, so everyone's scoring tons of runs--but Scumby's team more than most. This makes Medich's feat even more amazing, since it was done against a lineup of elite hitters.

Yes the league, Chicks Dig the Longball, has a max $1m for starters and $.75 for relievers, and a $130m cap, which makes this no hitter utterly INSANE.

Plus a requirement to pick from a small selection of the most offense-heavy ballparks...

You don't want to know what my therapy bill is going to be to try and forget being on the receiving end of this masterpiece!
