The overall stats presented are a little deceiving - the high end players almost all increased. For pitchers (excluding pre 1900 pitchers):

Of the top 38 non SP pitchers, 33 increased - overall average 5% increase
Of the top 29 pure RPs, 26 increased, 1 unchanged, 2 down - overall average 13% increase
Of the top 42 SP*, 40 increased, 2 decreased - overall average 7% increase

All other non SP: average 4% decrease
All other pure RPs: average 15% increase
All other SP*: average 7% decrease

So, excluding the repricing of anomalies, the emphasis was on increasing the salaries on all the top pitchers, decreasing the general SP prices, and significantly increasing all pure RP rates.

posted this earlier....anybody else think this may backfire:

I just read all the info on bullpen 3.0 and how they are trying to stop the super-reliever. looks like their test runs cut the super-reliever innings to about 65-75% of what they were before. With all the changes they made (go read about them) then I don't see why the Sutter/Murray cards skyrocketed. Seems that now they have priced themselves out of use (if the bullpen changes actually work)

Soooo this is 1000% correct and now we've made 2 additions which makes pitching less effective while hitting remains the same.
And how many folks already complained that there's too much offense?
Whoops...

The same review of top end hitters bears out the favorability to hitting (stats exclude pre-1900 players):

Of the top 107 priced hitters in ATG8: 51 went up in price, 56 went down - average price increase 0.1%
Hitters between $1.01 and $9.51: average price decrease 2%
Hitters $1M or under: average price increase 14%

So, some repricing in the top hitting tier but overall prices flat
Pricing at the very bottom went up, so it will be harder to build a super cheap but usable bench
Pricing in the middle went down a bit

Of the top 109 salary pitchers (split by position), 101 increased
Of the top 109 salary hitters, 53 increased

This definitely points to more scoring at all but the highest caps - probably won't matter much at 200M other than a little harder to build a stud-filled card top to bottom. Will probably see a lot more 120M, 150M and >200M cap leagues initially to replicate 100/140/200M leagues from ATG8.

That was my first impression as well. Pitching takes it up the ass once again!

This is the issue that is bothering me. Seems to me that you either raise the price of certain RP cards (Sutter, Murray, Burke et. al.) to address the super reliever issue or you institute new programming that adjusts for the useage. But not both...

I think they got this about right. Sutter should have been at least 10 mil under the old rules , so if he's limited to 70% of his innings, somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 mil is about right

Agree Steve, the pricing on guys like Sutter should solve the super reliever problem. I like the way they did it.
