I'll just make a few remarks here.

- Mark is REALLY good at this and worked his a** off. He should get nothing but kudos on the forums. It is a VERY difficult job.
- There should be a lot more balance and a lot more strategies that will work in ATG 9. Gone are the "bargains" that you "had to have".
- Sure, they may have been replaced by new ones, but I doubt any are as egregious as in the past.
- As Steve F points out, some of abused RPs were actually way underpriced before. Trust me when I say that the number of expected IP was critical to the pricing. Just think what Sutter would have been priced WITHOUT the new RP rules!
- This should even the playing field for newer players as you don't have to be in the know any longer.
- Just because *you* don't think a guy is worth such and such doesn't mean he isn't ;) 8-)
- In certain strategies, certain players are going to be bargains, but that's the fun right?
- Guys are priced for their best parks so that's probably what you're seeing in some cases. If you're thinking that a high BPHR guy with low OB is too expensive to play in Petco, you're probably right! He's not supposed to be price efficient in that park!
- Change is always difficult and there's NO way everyone would ever agree on prices, but that's what makes it fun! 8-)

Ok, my two cents. Get out there, roll up your sleeves and make the most out of what is, essentially a NEW game! :D

In the end, at least the field is now finally the same for everyone and not just for the pricing committee, whether one accentuates warts or polish. I don't think one can say good or bad result overall, without performance and usage data, and personal preference.

But the game is certainly different, which is good IMO. I think my overall reaction is more of "who moved my cheese." Prices can never be "correct" for every cap and situation, so I have no issue with what they are. Value is relative.

Ballpark-specific cards is cool feature. Props to SOM. And props to Moose--as he was clearly on the tail end of the wag and managed beautifully.

The Last Druid wrote:Wow, first person to openly admit they are on the pricing committee.[...]

And wow he is a bit of a self-aggrandizer, too, but I realize he was correcting an incorrect statement. We all pay for this, so I am not sure why we are instructed to pay homage to people who set the prices with a secret methodology. Not to mention, there is nothing magical or mysterious about using SPSS, or Minitab, or Matlab, etc to import a database file instead of using Excel.

That type of condescension from fellow customers does not deserve praise. The anecdotal responses to the prices, misinformed as they are in some cases, are precisely because of the unnamed people and processes that enshroud the pricing, where other paying customers we compete with get an advance look and execute a private methodology--which engenders mistrust.

One thing that I noticed is that many nickel players who get used alot were given grossly inflated new salaries.

This is the most significant thing I noticed at first glance. Some decent value bench players have now been priced out of bench duty to up over 1M where they will never be used. Minor annoyance but did seem like a gross overreaction.

Has anyone else noticed an error with the spreadsheet's pricing. It seems that negro league players have their pricing transposed. If they have 2 years, like Cool Papa or Josh Gibson, the pricing on the spreadsheet for their two years are reversed. They're right in the game, but reversed on the spreadsheet.

After my initial reaction to change, I have now accepted the set and I think they did a FANTASTIC job! ATG9 will
1. Level the playing field
2. Attract (and keep) more new players to the game
3. Address the super reliever concerns

The only thing I'm not sure about is that this hasn't made it even more difficult to have a team pitch well. I love pitching! All of my favorite players , current and all time, are pitchers. BUT, I realize most people like to hit and score.

I do wish their was a baseball sim game where if, let's say , Koufax was "on" that day it would not matter what 9 guys were in the lineup, it would be whif whif whif sit down for all of them! But, I have no idea how one would even create such a game.

Overall I think the new set is very good. BUT i still get perturbed at players that have cards but NOT their BEST card. Jason HEYWARD has some better years than his 2010 card. If a player is going to have cards why not the best year. I am not talking about the nuances of which cobb/ruth's cards/years were the best. I am referring to a Barfield not having his 40 hr year for example. And why put a card such as Jose IGLESIAS with a 3 injury in the set when he has similar years defensively/offensively with a 1 injury. OPTIMIZE the interest and probability of usage, otherwise the card never gets used and becomes redundant.

Any other cards NOT displaying like the new Jason BAY card???

Samir: There's nothing wrong with that name.

Michael: There was nothing wrong with my name, until I was about 12 years old and that no talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys!

Samir: Well, why don't you just go by 'Mike' instead of 'Michael'?

Michael: No way, why should I change? He's the one who sucks!

With the thousands of cards already in ATG aren't there already hundreds of redundant cards and cards that will never be used outside of a theme league? With the sheer number of available cards there is little possibility that all the cards would be used regularly outside of theme leagues IMO.

I don't think SOM should only use cards with a 1 injury status. Having some higher injury/higher possible reward options makes the game more interesting.
