To be frank, I've given up on any sort of variety in the typical 80M league, unless a theme is in play. There will be some confluence of data that will point toward "method X," which will result in what happened in ATG8. Instead of Pinero, Duren, Rueter, Heredia, Donald, backed up by "Super Reliever X," we'll see 5 different "bargain" SP's. Super Relievers will still be a thing, albeit at 200 IP instead of 300. I could be wrong. We'll see how it goes.

Now, I'm happy they're trying to do something with super relief, but I'd go even further. First, let's have greater chances at injury. Use the computer SADV injury system, with chances at 60-day injuries. Or, if a player does get injured, add a % of games on top of it equal to the overusage. So, say, Sutter is at 50% over usage and gets a 3 day injury, add 1.5 to to, or 5 games, rounding up. Dale Murray's lingering around 200% overusage, gets a 3 day, that becomes 9.

Overall, that's what annoys me most about the SR strategy (and people playing low AB players, like Tamargo). The lack of serious injury risk (I'm talking 30, 60 days). As far as pitching goes, outside Mike Marshall, you just don't have pure RP's going 200 Inns. Further, pitcher injuries are a lot more prevalent IRL than in Strat. With a more realistic injury option, staff depth becomes much more important. With greater consequences, those fringey bench players who soak up AB's might get sat down for half the season.

Not that this will ever, ever happen, of course...

Which one do you like? He was never much of a bat. The elite defensive ss's don't translate well to Strat, because there is no such rating as a 1+.

If they ever use super advanced injuries, I'm out. I 'll just stick to the windows game at that point!

Agree. All of those things are fixed by pricing the card to account for it. But dealing with a 60 day injury when you don't have an IR is just not a fun way to spend $20.

60 day injury? did I miss something? Are 60 day injuries now possible, or is this simply an exaggeration in making a point?

The super advanced injuries are an option in 20xx and daily game leagues and do have the potential for 60 game injuries. Not an option for atg

Didn't Maris' card change when he was changed to SuperAdvanced?

Hmmmm, then maybe we should have an IR (that would add a layer, wouldn't it?) :D

I know no one's in favor of it (except me, I guess). However, I would argue that repricing doesn't fix the usage issue. There will still be super relievers. With the addition of more serviceable and cheap modern SP's, we'll seem something close to what we've seen before. Instead of 300 IP from the superman, it'll be what, 200? Still overused. We'll see...

On ballparks: Some interesting choices in the first random league I entered. But seeing only one Forbes makes me happy.

Of course, there's two Polo Grounds.:-)
