New owner in a private 1982 league with buddies.
I have a rotation of four "S7*" pitchers and strong relievers.
I set 3/4 of the rotation with "quick hooks" and "max 7 IP".
First series, I had a starter (the 1/4 with no restriction) throw 8 2/3 innings despite trailing 6-1 entering the bottom of the 7th (and actually got the W after an amazing 10 run bottom of the eighth) which throwing, per the box score, 159 pitches.
That seems excessive even by 80's Billy Martin standards.
Then my next two starters had complete game W's, one in 10 innings with 140 pitches.
So my costly relievers tossed 1/3 inning.
I am thinking, I set the "Don't pull before" fatigue numbers incorrectly. Assumed they would drop linearly every 2-3 innings and used 4-5-6 as the limits. However looks like they stayed at "F9" deep into games. And this setting over rides the quick hook and 7 IP max settings.
Does this sound right?
Or does this just seem like a random spurious grouping?
Planning to reset to F6 for two relative aces and F7-F8 for the 3-4 guys.
