some of the name players who's salaries have been reduced for the 9? since the 9 experienced price hyperinflation, do you think now some of these players will be real bargains or they are still overpriced. examples, Dean, Chipper, his .......47obp card, Smoltz(*SP), Collins, etc.

Just to take issue with one thing: there wasn't price "hyperinflation" across the whole set, the amount of salary remained approximately the same. Some went up, some went down, etc. The huge bargains, i.e. mispriced players, hopefully are tone. Some guys will still be perceived as bargains and may be in certain situations/parks, but the gross mistakes, I think, are gone.

Ok its time to stop this misinformation.

Of 3,093 hitter cards in ATG8 803 saw price increases of 10% or more, 26% of the pool far from "most" salaries. At the same time 634 hitters saw a price decrease of 10% or more, or 20% of the hitter pool. In total, the entire hitter pool from ATG 8 dropped in salary by $55M in total or basically 20k a card. Effectively the pricing that existed in ATG 8 was simply moved around, some cards got more expensive while others decreased in price.

Now in terms of real dollars, 100 hitters had a salary movement of +/- $1M or more
Over 700 hitters had a salary movement of +/- $500k
And the median change in hitter prices was +/- $230k

I'm not going to go figure out the pitcher stats but in total those went down as well in salary from ATG8.

You all are entitled to your opinion on what strat got right or wrong with this release, but enough of the hyperbole and misinformation.

I like the new pricing , I like that you have to really pay to get the best players and then have to find the bargains to fill out the rosters. The lower cap leagues feel more challenging at this point. The high cap leagues are a drafting crap-shoot anyway so I dont find that the pricing to be an issue. The drop in some players pricing was a treat for me [ Trammell, Cuellar and Tobin] in particular as they are on many of my teams. Overall the game has been re-energized with ATG 9 and I say great job. One head scratcher for me is Arron Nola seems a little over priced with that 6 inning tire factor. Bill

My general impression is that the players you'd rather use increased significantly in price while the players you'd rather not use decreased slightly in price. Since there are a lot more of the latter, overall it came out about even. Hyperinflating the salaries of relief pitchers I understand, given their stated intention of defanging the super reliever. What I don't understand is why they made it nearly impossible to put together a decent bench in leagues $80M and below. Was that just an unintended consequence?

as for the super reliever don't you think the 2 setting limit has fixed that? i don't know. too early to tell and i haven't been able to find the money to spend 7+ on an RP

my sentiments exactly Tall Guy. as for Nola i totally agree except last night i lost 2 games to SP 6's that went 8 and 9 innings and both had 125+ pitch counts.

in short -- yes
that would have been enough.
The RPs are now being priced much more about how many innings they pitch relative to a starter-
without the ability to start and have been weighted to reflect innings over actual effectiveness of the card.
All of the 3, 4, 5 inning RPs are priced higher than much more effective 1, 2 inning RPs.
