A player's card is thus connected to the ballparks he plays in and the other players on a team. So, if you dont have ballpark ratings for the ballparks they played in and youre not even trying to simulate a season...then how do they even do these pre-1900 cards?
This is not a jab at you Freeman, but it was the latest as a counterpoint to use as a foil. The online version of SOM has never been about recreation of a season. That's how the cards are normalized--ie, a way they are statistically modeled--but nothing about this online game is a season replay. Not the 20xx game, not ATG, none of it.
When ATG first launched, yes, The cards were released by team.So what?
That still has no bearing on the fact we are not doing season replays. We pay for and draft our own teams. Why is that hard to understand? We have 6, 12, or 24 teams in leagues where we mix players of era and teams. We don't limit the playing time. We don't play the original teams and schedules.
Basically, we have people with 40 ABs who play full seasons. Those players were voted in by long time customers of this game. I've been playing SOM online since 2003, and now somehow they change the default player set after 9 versions. That's the problem. This realism stuff is a red herring and a distraction.
