Neutral stadium

PostSun Apr 19, 2020 11:32 pm

Looking for some ideas on how to exploit a neutral stadium or any stadium where there is some power but not a lot (4-9 hr ratimg) and not a lot of BP singles. I have built decent teams in extreme power parks/low singles and no power and high single or even neutral singles, righty teams...but that middle morass...not sure what to do. Anyhow, I would be interested in anyone is willing to share how they build a team in that kind of stadium.

Well, I'm all ears too.

I don't think I've been able to play .500 in neutral stadiums. The idea of "exploiting neutral stadiums" strikes me as similar to jumbo shrimp, original copy, etc...kind of an oxymoron. Probably it's not, though, and I am the moron.

Anyway, I look forward to what folks might post.

That's been my experience, too. Which is why I am asking. I am thinking you should be able to build a team that is better for a neutral park then a power team or a small ball team. Maybe a high-average team that still has a lot of BP homeruns?
I will be playing in Barnstormers and I think you have to have some neutral stadiums, right?

You can see the listing of park ratings when creating a team. Otherwise I go to DiamondDope

Here's the link: http://diamonddope.com/lineups.cfm

At the bottom of the page you'll see a drop down that says Zero Park Effects. Click the drop down and you can see the park ratings for each stadium.

The first example is:
3Com Park '99 (7, 1, 13, 9)
This park has a 7 Singles rating for LH batters, a 1 Singles rating for RH batters, a 13 HomeRun Rating for LH batters, a 9 HomeRun Rating for RH batters

Park Ratings go from 0-20, with 20 being the highest...……….

in theory, if you want better offensive numbers, draft hitters from tough hitting parks and choose an easy hitting park

if you want better pitching, draft pitchers from easy hitting parks but choose a tough hitting park

Thanks for the diamond dope link Andycumming. Is there a link with the 2019 set? That link doesn’t have it. I didn’t know this site existed. Would have been helpful for my first ATG team.

I generally play a neutral stadium in the 60s mystery game because I want to be flexible. There are a limited number of premium players, and you if you a bad autodraft, your alternatives will be limited.

So, I'm not trying to "take advantage of the ballpark"; rather, I'm trying to "get the best available player."
