Hi All,

Strat has contacted me about the 5 cards I get to add to the set.

The only one that is a lock for me is Steve Avery, because I was a lefty pitcher and that was the name I used on my fake ID in high school.

The other one I'm passionate about adding is Eddie Gaedel, but they surely won't let me.

Otherwise, I'm looking for inspiration. Send me your suggestions!

Upsides
Perfect OBP, never, ever injured, and no errors whatsoever.

Downsides
No power, unclear but likely bad base-running speed, limited defensive range (although it could be said that never did a ball get by him).

I've heard his card won't be allowed in, but if they let me believe you me he's in. I've already made an inquiry about it and am waiting to hear back.

Might I suggest 1969 Ernie Banks ... Would be his only 1B card in the set where he played nearly half his career. He's a 3 game risk with only 4 errors all season. Not the offensive Ernie we know and love, but the Ernie I barely remember growing up a Cubs fan in Chicago.

The question really is, Did SOM ever create a paper card for him in the past....if not, then it's an easy NO that he won't be added.

However, if SOM did create a paper card on him in the past, then you have at least a slim chance that they might.

Five seasons into a promising career, McHenry started having trouble with his eyesight in the 1922 season. The Cardinals sent him home to rest, and a brain tumor was later detected. McHenry died a couple months later.
The guy was a lifetime .302 hitter in 4+ seasons, and I think that this would be a good add. No card in the set.

Alexander was a can't-miss superstar his first 3 seasons in MLB, leading the league in hits in 1929 and winning the batting title in 1932 with the Red Sox. Quite an offensive force.
He injured his leg in 1933 and the training staff tried a new deep-heat method to try to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and thereby speed healing: diathermy. However, they left it on for too long and burned his leg. Amputation was feared, but the leg improved enough for that not to be necessary. The leg atrophied, however, and Alexander never returned to the majors.
His career batting average was .331.

For a decade, Lockman was a starter for some good Giants teams. Historically, he probably has one of the longest careers of a player with NO Card (not counting recent 2000s players). I think he'd be a great add, either card, thought that 1949 might be more interesting.

Without a doubt, Watson needs an ATG upgrade. 14 year Astro in a 19 year career, it’s just a matter of which of these two cards should be the one. (Don’t worry about 1976 card, it looks good on paper, but vs LHP it is not better than 1975 vs LHP, and it’s much weaker against RHP than 75 & 77).
1973(kills LH), 1975(kills LH) & 1977(balance) are all good and more representative of his fine career.

Great leadoff guy for the O's for more than a decade. His other cards are not representative of his career. This card is better offensively than his 1980 card, plus he can play LF (his 1980 card is only eligible in CF and is not great on defense). He can work on those RHP, imagine a platoon with Gene Clines, etc
