I used him once, on my first Hilltop team. Batted him leadoff in a non-DH league, which probably wasn't too bright. He underperformed a bit, but I'll use him again someday.

In higher cap live draft leagues he's one of the last CF picked, so that's an indication of how popular he is, even if you can afford him. I like his new card, even with the injury risk. Just need a capable backup when he gets hurt.

The 2 injury card looks worth a gamble to me and I'm trying him out in some higher cap leagues...

Here's Trout (2013 in ATG8) in Fenway '46 batting leadoff - not bad, not great...

I like both cards. IMO, the 2013 card is deceptive. It can seem underwhelming because some of the things Trout does well kinda go under the radar. The card is more likely to be used in high-cap leagues where he won't have high batting average or lots of homers, however, he will...

> Draw walks for good (but maybe not spectacular) OBP
> Fielding - 1 range and only 1 error
> He's fast

I'm just trying out the 2018 card. As long as you can cover the injury risk, I think it has a lot of potential.

Trout in Barnstormers 140 Mil League,https://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1571605 he is just good enough to keep you out of the playoffs, his OPS is similar to an 8 million dollar player so you are paying 2 million for his defense, which effects about 6 games.

Here he is an the average TROUT team in 200 Million in Barnstormers:
https://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1572517

Brett Butler is about equivalent in speed and defense if you want to use a lousy hitting defensive sub with a good hitting Center Fielder and slightly inferior defense. Brett costs 201K more than the league minimum so that is a relative steal. Trout doesn't hit into many double plays, which is his advantage. But he really is overpriced by about 1.5 million dollars. And not hitting into double plays doesn't mean as much when you are lead-off hitter.

In most normal 80-100 million leagues you would be better off spending 3.78 million for Dexter Fowler and spend the 6 million upgrading the rest of your hitting.

The .922 OPS jjijd got is something I have never been able to do and I have used him a bit
