OK, I’ll bite. What does my $8 get me since player/team/season/game/play (where available) is already provided by baseball-reference.com for free?

8$ is the monthly, first month free trial. looks like its a lot easier to search specific questions that BRef, but why? sports trivia night at the local pub? hell yeah!

I noticed the other day that Baseball Reference and Football Reference suddenly have ads that cannot be stopped by my ad-blocker. They're slow to load and very intrusive. Could be just a coincidence, but I think maybe the point of the $8 is to get an ad-free experience, and they're deliberately making the ads frustrating enough that we'll gladly pay the money.
