I received a number of requests to share the results of the league with the broader community. I'll try to post an update each Saturday of some key outcomes.

We are 12 games into the season so the only direct pitchers versus hitters games thus far have been from the Central division. There have been 18 games between the pitching centric teams and the hitting centric teams--the results thus far are...

Hitters: 10 wins versus pitching centric teams
Pitchers: 8 wins versus the hitting centric team

The Beaver Pelts--owned by Fench33--a hitting team---has raced out to an 11-1 start to lead the east. They are averaging almost 7 runs a game-allowing just over 4. In the pitching centric west division, SPhillips' RI Aces are 9-3--they are allowing under 3 runs a game thus far. In the Central--the mixed division, Burley Norseman's hitting team--the Rocky Mountain Rejects are 8-4--they are averaging 6.5 runs in Coors Field.

A few surprising (at least to me) things

Pat Rapp tossed a shutout for the hitting centric team playing in Coors Field.
Barry Bonds is hitting .235 in Coors with an OBP of just over .300
Which pitchers have the most wins? Why that would be Pat Rapp (Rocky Mountain Rejects) and Rick Sutcliffe from the Heavy Hitters-owned by Juiced JC --each with 3 wins--David Cone for the pitching centric team of the Houston Pudge Rockets owned by The BC Manager also has 3 wins.

Hitting highlights

Tony Gwynn--a teammate of Barry--leads the league in hitting--he's at .467
Frank Thomas from the hitting team Rakuten Monkey's owned by Budabear 78, leads the league with 7 home runs
Mark McGwire from the Beaver Pelts leads the league in runs batted in with 16--he already has 18 walks. Teammate Gary Shefield leads the league with an OPS of 1.362.

Pitching highlights

ERA leaders are Dennis Martinez who hasn't given up a run in 13 innings while hurling for the Be Kind to Others-a central division team owned by NewCar13.
Kevin Brown from the RI Aces has an ERA of 1.00
Jamie Navarro from the hitting centric Beaver Pelts has an ERA of 1.23

From a pitching standpoint, Woody Williams (along with Navarro) have been outstanding. I was most psyched that I managed to draft Gott, because of the eligible pitchers, he has four good cards. Of course, it looks like I got his one bad one.

Thank you for the weekly updates to us curious ones who wonder which type team will prevail. This being mystery, everyone could have the same teams again and the results completEly different, but this is a great Concept!

PostMon Jul 06, 2020 10:14 pm

Update for week 5....sorry about the delay. Was out of town and the internet service was pretty much non-existent.

The hitting centric teams continue to lead the pitching centric teams--they lead the season series 169-137, a winning percentage of about 55%. This is down from last weeks results---the pitching centric teams had a good week.

Division leaders---no changes in the top--the East (Hitters) continues to be lead by Juiced JC----Juiced's Heavy Hitter offense is being paced by Manny Ramirez (.352/42/98--Slugging of .760)--more surprisingly, pitchers Pedro Astacio is 13-3--despite an ERA of 5.50 while Todd Stottlemyre is an impressive 15-3 with an ERA of 3.74.

The Central--with 2 hitting and 2 pitching team---continues to be lead by Burley Norseman's Rocky Mountain Rejects. Tony Gwynn leads the league with a .388 batting average---Jason Giambi has an OBP of .422. Burley's club is averaging just under 7 runs a game at 6.89.

The West is lead by BC Manager's Houston Pudge Rockets. BC's team features Roger Clemens who is....5-17. Curt Schilling was acquired via waivers and has an ERA of.....7.15. Ramon Martinez is 13-3 and Bryan Harvey and Tom Henke have 27 saves between them.

Three teams are within 3 games of the wild card--Newcar13s' Be Kind 2 Others--a pitching centric team in the Central leads the wild card race by 1 game.

Week 6 update:

Season series:
Hitting Centric: 197 victories vs pitching centric
Pitching Centric: 168 victories vs hitting centric

Hitting win percentage: 53.9% (it's getting closer....)

Division leaders--no changes at the top but the hitting centric East now has 3 teams within 1 game of the lead.

East: Juiced JC's Heavy Hitters now hold a 1 game lead of both Cabreras 24's Hit/Pitch Challenge and Fench33's Beaver Pelts. The Heavy Hitters are lead by Manny Ramirez (,338/.437/.711) Albert Belle (.316/.409/.649) and Andres Galarraga (.340/.372/.544) and Todd Stottlemyre who has a record of 16-4 and an ERA of 3.84.

Central: Mixed----Burley Norseman's Rocky Mountain Rejects continues to dominate the league with a record of 74-43--he holds a 12 game lead in the Central. The Rejects have a run differential of +183 and are lead by Barry Bonds (.300/.403/.662), Jason Giambi (.334/.417/.617) and Tony Gwynn (.387/.436/.565). They are averaging 6.89 runs per game.

West: BC Manager's Houston Pudge Rockets holds a 6 game lead over SPhillips' RI Aces. The Rockets are lead by Ramon Martinez (14-4--WHIP 1.28) and are getting good contributions from Chan Ho Park (9-3/3.41 ERA) and Steve Avery (8-4-3.55). If the two aces of the team--Roger Clemens (6-18--ERA 3.90, WHIP 1.24) and Curt Schilling (1-2, ERA 7.16/1.55) return to form, the Rockets could see additional improvement.

The Wild Card is lead by Newcar13's Be Kind 2 Others---they hold a 2 game lead over the Rakuten Monkeys led by Budabear78-Central-Hitting and the Beaver Pelts (East-Hitting) and Hit/Pitch Challenge (East-Hitting).

Other interesting stats:

Mark McGwire (Beaver Pelts) continues to lead the league with 49 home runs
Jon Nunnally (RI Aces) is 7th in OPS--1.031---better than Albert Belle and Ken Griffey Jr.

Greg Maddux, Dennis Martinez and Joey Hamilton of Be Kind 2 Others all have ERA's under 3.
Pedro Martinez, Hideo Nomo and Kevin Appier are 1,2 and 4th in strikeouts--all pitch for the Fatdaddy054 Atlanta Skinwalkers--that club is tied for 3rd in the west 9 games behind the leader.
