you can only draft players that have a card for one of your franchises, After the initial draft is done during the waiver wire draft and FA you can pick up anybody that has a Yankee, RedSox, Nel, some pre 1900 players with cards that don't belong to current franchises (ex: Ross Barnes) and the 4 undrafted teams.
