This is an idea I want to share with the community and get feedback on.
If Strat approves, I will host a 24 team league comprised of players with less than 50 games experience and with winning percentages less than .500. It will be an ATG-9 league, 80m with no-DH (but if folks prefer a Dh league, I can live with that. Even though it is an abomination )
Among the 24 managers, I'd like to have anywhere from 1 (minimum would just be me) to 4 (maximum) veterans who are willing to share ideas, offer suggestions, and generally mentor rookie managers. The veteran managers would have a max cap of $60m, $20m below the rest of the managers. If Strat approves, it will allow us to keep this league off of our records. If not, we just have to live with the hit to our overall winning percentages. With 1-4 vets in the league, I'd ask Strat to ensure that no more then 1 vet in any one division.
[Think of the fun it will be for newbies and developing managers to kick the veterans around for a change!]
Then, we'd spend the pre-season, the 54 nights of the league, and the playoffs...encouraging the newbies, giving the tips, offering strategies, answering questions and hopefully having a great time together.
Anyway, it is an idea. Also, I have some extra credits (um, super-reliever was very, very good to Chompsky). If Strat approves, I'll give out some extra credits in the league as a way of incentivizing participation in the league.
After the league is over, we'll solicit feedback to determine what can be done to improve the next iteration of the league. And then, do it again! It wouldn't have to be the same vets running the league each time. Although it could be. And of course, if the thing turns out to be a fiasco... we can just let it go.
Feedback requested. Interest? Critiques? Suggestions?
