Well Done MLB Players!

PostWed Aug 26, 2020 10:03 pm

I am so proud of players like Mookie Betts and Clayton Kershaw and everyone who agreed to take a stand against police violence on unarmed people. If ever there was a case of government overreach it is these rogue cops acting as thugs, judges, jurors, and executioners.

Of course most police are professional people who really do want to help their communities
. And I think the good cops are probably just as upset as anyone, too bad more won't speak out against the bad apples. The Justice Department needs to break the will of police unions and the code of silence. Good people speak up when there is injustice, especially when they love their country.

Some things are more important than hitting a ball and catching a ball, and the MLB players involved in the protest showed that they understand that.

The WNBA? Did they threaten to play until something is done?

Really disappointed in the NHL right now. They had a moment of silence. A whole moment, geez. :?

As a retired police officer I echo your sentiments 100 % . It sickens me every time this happens and I find it unbelievable that it continues to happen at such an alarming rate. I know 90 percent of the men and women I worked with for 22 years were decent people and did the job in a professional way, treating people with dignity and respect and the actions by these criminal officers bring shame and disgust to those who wear the badge. Its hard to believe as a child of the sixties that America is still cursed with the racism that has plagued or national soul for out entire history. I am happy to see that the athletes that our culture admires and is entertain by have made a stand. In truth that 10% of criminal officers are a symptom of the disease of systemic racism and I pray that America can come together and put an end to this evil . Bill [PAPD]

I agree completely with these sentiments, and Bill, thanks for posting your first-hand observations.

But where is the outrage when a 100 African American men are shot by fellow African Americans on a weekly basis in the city of Chicago??? Why isn't Black Lives Matter taking a stand on this issue?
