I started 26-8 and was 29-13 when... the shit hit the fan...

About four years ago I had a 40-14 start and ended up at 85-77 which means after my tremendous start I went 45-63 and I had to go 8-2 in my last 10 games or I might have been under .500. So I came on this forum and talked about normalization (a coin flip by Hal or whatever you want to call it) and I was ripped to shreds by the community like they were a pack of rabid wolverines. I was called a whinny cry baby and practically every name under the sun and they said there is no such thing as normalization. But there absolutely is there are just too many examples of epic collapses for no apparent reason. Are there epic collapses in real baseball? There absolutely are and we could all cite example but not to the extent they occur here. And there are normally definitive reasons in real baseball like injuries, poor trades, front office politics and unrest (George Steinbrenner), players not getting along with managers (Billy Martin), managers not getting along with players (Billy Martin), other teams cheating (Houston Astros) and on and on.
Sometimes when I get going on a bad streak I feel like Henry J. Waugh when he started losing his mind because the Universal Baseball Association was collapsing. But then I just remember Casey at the Bat because even though Casey struck out somewhere hearts are light....there is always hope.

Seriously though, I sent a request to customer service to ask them to tune down your HAL factor--Hexation And Losses--and they happily obliged. It seemed excessive.

In double seriousness, I do have to say I approach it this way--
If I'm winning, and either my guys are generally over-performing or I am winning a lot of 1-run and XI games, or my run diff is negative, I worry.
If I'm losing, and either my guys are generally under-performing or I am losing a lot of 1-run and XI games, or my run diff is positive, I hold out hope.

Don't know if either of those scenarios apply, but either way it does feel momentarily like being wronged by the love of your life.
