Besides backing off on the recent limitations, I think the thing for me is just knowing the fatigue function that's applied so we can manage risk as we see fit.

Accepting F0 usage may indeed be the right solution in cases as you and others have illustrated. But it is a guess as to the effects.

When do all the results come off hitters' cards? Would be good to know. Because maybe that's OK up to about $xxM, but above that level maybe the massive lineups make it a poor choice.

I think it's clear that if we knew the results were always going to come off hitter cards at some point, it possibly changes the calculus. Without that, it seems pretty clear an F0 high end card would be better than a mediocre pitcher.

Super-Advanced Injuries: on (?)
I think there were some longer ones, unfortunately a lot of stuff gets wiped out when the team goes to archive.

I think Super Advanced injuries are only on single season sets.
I think ATG is this (https://stratomatic365.fandom.com/wiki/Standard_Injury_System)

Pitchers
Real-life IP Max. length of injury
0-199 no limit (can be injured for the max 15 extra games)
200-299 3 extra games
300+ Remainder of game

Two comments - perhaps the "set 'em and forget 'em" crowd is SOM's ATG9 marketing strategy - on perhaps they should be called the "don't set 'em and forget 'em" crowd. It's not how I prefer to play and I had pretty good success managing my bullpen in ATG2 - ATG8.

Clamoring for longer/more injuries or AB/IP limitations reminds me of when the latest iteration of SOM football rolled out in the Fall of 2017. It incorporated limits on rushes, passes, and receptions. Among the multitude of its problems was no prorating of season length, so if you threw 40 passes a game with Kenny Stabler or Bart Starr, they would be "fatigued" after a few games. This did not go over so well to put it mildly. I wouldn't expect baseball to handle things any better.

I tried an experimental four aces strategy with cheaper pitchers under 10M with *9 (8.54M was the highest), which gave me a boost in offense, but it hasn't worked too well (now, I've dropped guys and made tweaks to try to make the team competitive): https://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1598990

Maybe it's best with the most expensive pitchers. I know that doesn't affect the F0, but otherwise you get the benefits of the top-of-the-line pitching. Every little bit helps with those teams.

I also failed to mention a shout out--I know TLD takes heat for being direct and brusque, but he actually helped the player that I only anonymously mentioned in my original post.

Bad on me as I was so transfixed by the F0 switcharoo phenomena I didn't even think to send the person a league mail as I have never interacted with him (or her?) before.

Don't think there are any "hers" here anymore. A woman named Marge played a lot back in II and III, but not aware of anyone since. But then again, We could be wrong; no one has listed their "personal pronouns" on this site. Just to correct that undoubted oversight, We have decided that Our personal pronouns are: We and Our. Cheers!

I forgot about "marge"--and there was her and the sick little girl that turned out to not be. That may be it ever.

Dang, I guess Strat is not the happening place to meet women that it appears to be...

Strat is like the modern equivalent of going to the parlor for cigars and brandy...

Even D&D/boardgaming conventions had a few women. Well, not sure Ive run into any women playing chess over the internet but Im sure there are some. (I got tired of losing to some trash-talking prodigys from say India, anyway)I mean zero is quite an accomplishment...

Female internet chessplayers

PostWed Oct 07, 2020 8:21 pm

Some of my best customers are trash talking girls from India on ICC and there are quite a few women there, even WIM's. The worst though is this chick from Iceland. Found her on Facebook too. Nihilistic adolescent clearly waiting until she is 18 so she can get her formal borderline personality disorder diagnosis. She's not even 1900 at g/15 and what a mouth. I ignore her comments but so enjoy beating her.

I should add that I have a different persona on ICC than here. No trash talking from me there; I let my play speak for itself. Too many chessplayers have fragile egos and just hate to lose. Most contemporary GM's are fairly stable with some social skills, many of the adolescents who play seem devoid of any semblance of social skills. That is why I gave up chess at 16 and didn't return until my Ph.D. was finished.

The reason that we are stable in strat is that we can always blame our losses on terrible luck or Hal screwing us. In chess you only have yourself to blame.
