One third of the way in... (54 games)

Best three teams at the moment have the best three pitching staffs in team rankings.. Also they are the only three teams that have a .500 or better record both Home and Road.

The best three offensive teams have the worst three pitching staffs in team rankings.

Seems excessively normal for a online league...doesn't it :!: :?:

Interesting analysis.

We're in neither spot. So far our hitting has been a big disappointment. We have only 2 guys who are hitting over .250. And three starters against RHP under the Mendoza line. That's just not going to get it done.

The pitching has actually been, more or less, what I expected, but I sure hoped our D would be better. It *has* been better after a rough start however.

Not sure this team has what it takes. Been swept 3 times without a single sweep of our own to go with it.

I don't know what to think about my team. Fielding has been outstanding, but we seem to squeak by every win. My hitting has been below poor. When Trout doesn't make page 1 in the stats, you know you're in trouble. I don't think my pitching is as good as it may appear. After Giolitto and Weaver and Lugo it's very iffy.

However, I'll take the wins. This league is always tough. I expect the remainder to be battles in every division.

Okay, as one of the new guys, and then making fairly large changes, just wanted to explain my thinking: (and because JTJ asked. JTJ: I would have written earlier, but was busy celebrating the Dodgers' World Series victory! heheheh)

1. Dropping Cruz and Tatis: One trend I saw in this league is the lack of LHP. In my division games, my teams are trending around 9% vs. LHP. Overall, leaguewide, it is about 18%. This is lower than the other leagues I have been in generally, where the trend is usually at least 25%, and sometimes 30%. Obviously, you guys all know the best pitchers, etc. So, given that Cruz and Tatis are both very strong vs. LHP, (both get injured a lot) and my team was lacking some lh bats, I thought it was prudent to try to swing back the other way a bit. Thus, picked up Devers and then Seager. I couldn't see paying the price for the hitters good vs. LHP, who would probably be hurt for 30-40 games as well.

2. Dropping Grienke: Grienke sucked for me, and it appears he is not exactly tearing it up for KLX either. By dropping him, I was able to get Seager and then Austin Riley. My thinking is Riley and Piscotti are fine value-wise vs. LHP, since they are not going to play much anyway. Also, with Grienke and DeGrom, I had 2 fairly high priced SP, and after 30% of the season, I am dead last in pitching. (I know my RP is somewhat to blame, but SP has not been crisp either.)

So far, I still think I have the solid makings of a team set to lose 90 games :)

So much for asking the strat gods to even things out. Pitchers are now down 110 on rolls. Hitters are only down 28.

Most of the time on Rolls it favors hitters--pitchers do pitch tired, if you are ahead, especially by a few runs, Hal will push them even if you don't set F ratings--if you ever have a pitching staff when more rolls are on the pitchers card than the hitters--it's a rare event unless you have a bunch of cheap pitchers.

I think the altered rolls go to the best column--sometimes that is on the pitchers cards.

I got swept again, have lost 11 in a row and 14 out of 16. It's starting to be on the ridicules' side of reality at this time. We are approaching impossibility point here soon. :o
