Two Backups Weren't Enough

PostFri Nov 06, 2020 3:55 am

After game 72, I dumped little used Horace Clarke to free up the cash to upgrade my fifth starting pitcher. After all, I still had four middle infielders to cover shortstop and second base.

In game two of the very next series...

Dave Johnson gets hurt in the second inning
His replacement, Wayne Causey, gets hurt in the fifth inning
Next guy up, Dick Howser, gets hurt in the eighth inning
Billy Williams is my new second baseman

It gets weirder: All three injuries were groundouts, revealing 1966 as the year for each player.

I can't complain too loudly, though; I did sweep the series!

PS. Billy Williams was my worst fielding positional player, so--since my final second baseman was going to be 5-rated anyway, HAL did a good job picking Williams for the job!
