This is what I was thinking too.

The sim will not allow me to change the salary cap.

You could probably email customer service and get them to change it, or just create a new league and post the link so we can all switch to it.

In another similar i league I am in, we just ignore the 5% drop penalty until the very end. That way you are not tied up trying to calculate the net roster value for every move - just keep the gross amount under the applicable cap.
