If anyone is interested in dumping some high dollar contracts for players that can help me in 2020, send me a PM. I'm interested in talking trade.

I propose that we prorate the At Bat and Innings Pitched minimums in Section 10.02 rule on Free Agent Eligibility down to from 50 to 20 AB and from 30 to 10 IP for this year. Or, alternatively, we can drop the limits altogether for this year and simply let the buyer beware. I have no idea how many at bats or innings pitched will be required for an SOM card.

I've been looking through the rules and spotted this under Section 9.10 Contract Extensions:

"Both extensions must be offered prior to the November 30 deadline. Teams who are over the salary cap are not permitted to extend contracts, or increase payroll, until they are under the salary cap."

Shouldn't this say "March 31 deadline" to be consistent with Section 9.07 OFFSEASON ACTIVITIES AND DEADLINES?

Sorry if I'm being "that guy"

I agree with Teamnasty. Keep it simple.

The prorated limits are so small, may as well eliminate them this one time. For my own information, if the limits are eliminated, this means any player with ML experience prior to 2020, whether carded in SOMO or not, is a FA, correct?

Pretty sure that would be correct. Just spent the last 2 afternoons researching guys that met the 50/30 lol. Oh well good to be retired. I'm fine with no threshold for this year. We'll have a few more free agents to pick from.

Good catch Chris. I have to change that to reflect the recently passed rule changes.

From the contract thread:

Good luck to you Paul, but technically, do we have to announce prospect promotion now, or can we wait until the regular season? I am thinking about doing this myself, but I thought I could wait until after the FA draft.

Thanks!

"Section 10.09 says you must have a 40 man roster at the completion of winter free agency. Section 7.02 says if you have a full 40 man roster, prospects can't be promoted until there is room to do so. Section 7.03 says players on the 40 man can't be released while a season is in progress (however that's defined?) to promote a prospect.

While I very well could be missing something, it seems that it would be prudent to promote a prospect now. At a minimum you'd avoid having to eat a contract because of a full 40 man. You could probably trade your way into an empty roster spot too once FA is over."

Last year when we were drafting prospects we knew that none of them were making the 40 man roster. This year however there will be a few of the prospects we draft that will have cards and will be promoted to play in our 2020 season. Problem is the draft will be after free agency and we have this rule about having our 40 man rosters in place after free agency. It seems kind of weird to have to sign a free agent that you know you are going to drop to make room for a better prospect and be on the hook for the dropped players salary as well. Thoughts?
