Allowing the ballpark to be changed was a "bug" and that should not happen anymore. In a live draft, particularly where you draft a stadium, no more after draft stadium changes will be allowed. In fact, that was the Tuesday live draft and the glitch was fixed for the Wednesday LD. I was told it had something to do with this being an INVITE league. Again, the INVITES feature will continue to be perfected.

In a normal autodraft, when I get the time - I try to do stadium checking with the intent to "catch" a players error and allow the player to change his stadium rather than incur a penalty. I ask them to notify all of the players in the league of the change and why, but I cant be certain this is done.

In the case of this year, with players so far down the list - say 225th place, I still notify the player but most do not bother to make the change, nor do I even bother to post the penalty.

If the tournament format remains the same - a certain # of automatic finals qualifiers with semifinal leagues determining the remaining finalists - I suggest some type of “home field advantage” based on performance in the first 5 events. I suggest a continuation of the Barnstormers point system with the semifinal managers’ points being reset to 1/5 of their accumulated points. The Barnstormers points earned in the semifinal round would be added to the reset level to determine who advances to the final league. For this year there is a 69 point differential between 10th and 81st which would result in an approximate 14 point lead for manager #10 over #81 to start the semifinal.

Tip of the cap to all who made the finals. Truly an accomplishment! Hoping to still be able to join you there.

I completely understand the commish wanting to be conservative in making changes and also be sensitive to the wishes of players who have been playing for a long time (particularly top players whom any changes might impact negatively.) If it aint broke, dont fix it...

But the issue (I think) is that change has been forced on the tournament due to increased entries and those who finish 10-33 have been negatively impacted (they are in 24 team leagues instead of 12 team leagues as they were in 2018-2019), whereas finishers 1-9 are unaffected. The issue is not whether to change...change has been forced upon the tournament.

I also really dislike the "consolation" tournament idea. That idea has never been popular in any fantasy league ive been involved in. For people to stay interested, they need to have a chance (however small) of winning the ultimate prize.

Speaking of a small change, you could it set it up where finishers 10-33 were in 12 team leagues. Then finishers 34-81 would complete in 2 24 team leagues. Only one winner of the two 24 teams would go to the finals based on some tie-breaker (most wins in semis?) and each of the 12 league winners would go to the finals. This would make the 1-33 finishers happy (and I think answer some of J-pav's concerns), while still giving finishers 34-81 a chance at making the final.

I am referring to your policy of allowing changes after the autodraft has run, not LD bugs. This happened in 2 different leagues I was in and no notification was given. It not only confers an unfair advantage to the person who made the mistake, it means other managers may finalize their rosters unaware that a change was made. Whether the offender is in 2nd place or 230th place, this potentially costs other teams in the league wins.

Changing your stadium after an autodraft has run is unacceptable and should not be allowed under any circumstances. I honestly can't believe no one else appears to care about this.

This has been a fun read. This is a game meant to be fun. I personally like to have fun. I do alot of crazy things when putting my teams together because it's supposed to be fun. I'm not one of the "best" managers because of that. I don't care how it's structured, it's the same for all going in. Good luck to everyone and I personally look forward to whatever crazy team I decide to put together next!!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!

Let's play ball!!

I would consider this unacceptable as well

I understand why this is an issue and I agree with sjudd that it shouldn't happen. I also know that from Rick's perspective, he's trying to herd cats to begin with, and then on top of that, has to babysit guys who don't pay attention with regard to the park penalty. In the future, probably just best for that penalty to be enforced once the league drafts instead of giving the manager another chance to fix it.

J-Pav wrote:The piano quote, if I remember correctly (crap, was it Van Cliburn?), was asking a legendary piano player who he thought was the best piano player in history. His answer was that there was no best piano player in history. You can either play, or you can’t. That’s all there is.

From the 200x perspective, I would agree that if you finish in the top 36, you have made a solid argument that you can play.

So the goal of structuring the tournament should be to find those Top 36, and turn them loose. Then BS should consider providing a format that provides those 36 an equal chance.

The current set-up of distinguishing the Top 9 may be to restrictive.

There is a lot of merit in this. Regarding "bonus points" I reference Nevdully's thread about making playoffs 25 out of his last 28 teams with only 1 title.
