It is unusual, but not unprecedented, that a manager would survive the gauntlet of 6 leagues, make it to the Finals as the 4th seed, and then walk away without a peep. But we are in the age of Covid, so old norms often no longer apply.
Although I'm not alone in my belief that there is no urgency to vote on the Finals' format, apparently the beliefs of the finalists matter little.
My suggestion regarding the disappearance of GaryClausen is that if it is imperative that a vote be taken now on the Finals' format, that we skip his vote, but don't yet boot him from the Finals. Perhaps he will reappear with an explanation. In the meantime, the vote and the Semis can proceed. If GaryClausen fails to appear by the time the Semis winners are known, I suggest that he be replaced at that time, and that the next highest point qualifier who didn't win the Semis be added to replace him.
If the BSers board wishes to add further competition and intrigue to the battle to be a potential replacement should GaryClausen not timely appear, perhaps it should consider 10th place finisher Dougess' suggestion made in another thread to a "continuation of the Barnstormers point system with the semifinal managers’ points being reset to 1/5 of their accumulated points. The Barnstormers points earned in the semifinal round would be added to the reset level to determine who advances to the final league. For this year there is a 69 point differential between 10th and 81st which would result in an approximate 14 point lead for manager #10 over #81 to start the semifinal."
Again, while I understand that it's important to some to strictly adhere to the tourney timetable, it is virtually unfathomable that someone would qualify for the Finals and would simply disappear without further contact. The proposal above gives GaryClausen the benefit of the doubt, while at the same time causing no significant delay in completion of the tournament.
