60's Game is Flawed!

PostSat Dec 12, 2020 1:39 pm

Another game whereby my Ace(Koufax) is lifted for a PH in late innings with the lead!
Not to mention Chance gets pulled in the 2nd inning! after 46 pitches. He was set F* and was still F9 at the end of the 2nd.

The 60's was highlighted by great SP's (Koufax, Seaver, Gibson, Marichal, etc.) They threw big innings because the advent of the RP specialist was still young.

If Walt Alston or Gil Hodges pull Koufax/Seaver/Chance) the way HAL does, they would be out of jobs!

HAL needs to add a setting that minimizes PH for SP's!!!!!!! Replace that Avoid PH in blowouts setting- useless!

Koufax averaged about 11 complete games per season in his career. His percentage of complete games compared to games started ranged from about 50 to 66% depending on whether it was an ok season or great season. In games he wins there's about an 83% chance of him throwing a complete game. If you're seeing those kinds of numbers, then the game might not be as flawed as it seems.

BUT, if I set his fatigue at F8 and he isn't yet fatigued, HAL should not pull him??

As shown below Wiki help says pinch hitting decisions are independent of whatever settings you have for "Don't relieve for"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Note that there are ways that he may still leave the game before his designated fatigue level, including if he's set to Avoid Lefties or Avoid Righties, if the situation calls for another pitcher you've assigned to a matching Super Hal Bullpen Role, or if the computer manager decides to pinch-hit for him."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We might not agree with the computer manager ignoring the fatigue setting when deciding to pinch hit, but, at least, the Wiki is telling us up front that you can't stop pinch hitting with this setting.

I still say if Koufax is pitching 300+ innings and 83% of his wins are complete games, then, it's realistic. Perranoski pitched a lot of relief innings for the Dodgers in real life.

You sound like you work for SOM....
They should just give us a setting to stop pinch hitting!
