Coors Field

PostSat Dec 26, 2020 5:42 pm

I have never used Coors Field (except for one theme league four years ago) and just drafted a team for Coors. Waivers is at 5pm today so once waivers are over I will see what your thoughts and suggestions are. I will probably play the team as is but am interested in seeing where I might have gone wrong.

I drafted three different types of offensive players:

Cheap defense 2B, SS

Cheap platoon HR hitting 1B, C, DH

High dollar defense, on base and HR hitting LF, CF, RF, 3B.

My SP will be very cheap with a reasonably priced closer, an R5 reliever and two R2 relievers.

My obvious concern is whether I will be able to outhit what my pitching gives up.

I will post my squad in the next half hour.

Thats an interesting team you got there. I have been too chicken to play in Coors for a long time so I dont really have tips I could be justified in giving but I did lose to someone using Coors in the finals so Ill post that.

4's in the corners and a 3 in CF? He definitely outhit his opposition.

Definitely a strong O. Had to be to win a championship with a team ERA of 6.02 and WHIP of 1.60!! Obviously his plan was just to out slug everyone and I guess it worked. I like the looks of your team. Strong D up the middle and some good power. Not sure how your bullpen will hold up though. Will be interested to see how it works out.

Not a Coors team, but 547 is 2nd place in runs to my 686....and 4.80 ERA is 11th to my 5.55 12th. I didn't intend this, but it's making for some interesting stats. Last year I started leaning towards "super reliever teams" . This year I am doing the opposite and loading the innings pitched on my starters. This 2 roles rule sucks.

Here is how we finished:

As you can see, second best run differential but only a .500 record. Trout was hurt 7 times for 34 games total. I am going to try this again with the 20 set but needs some tweaking

Ouch. +100 and only .500? Thats some bad luck. Interesting that your pythagorean is 90-72, while Coventry's record was 90-72 with only a +2 run differential--kind of the reverse of your team. To me, if youre +100 that's a successful team design--the record was bad luck.

One thing I did note was that your under a million starters went a combined 15-34--the rest of your team was 66-47. You might consider going a bit more expensive on starters as a tweak.

Exactly the conclusion I came up with. Just a tad more on my cheap starters. All in all, as my first EVER Coors Field team, it was fun.
