WATCH OUT FOR BOTS

PostWed Jan 06, 2021 8:07 pm

SOM is now slotting BOTS into Leagues without any notice..... WATCH OUT!

It's like playing Vegas with a crooked dealer!

Stratorat, how did you determine it was a BOT? Was this a public autodraft league?

It happens when a manager is suspended for some reason. All his teams are taken over by bot. Maybe, a manager was suspended before the season started?

So what, better a bot than a cheating, or tanking (also cheating) player, no?

If my team ended up in a league with a BOT, I would ask for a refund. I assume BOTs do not respond to trade offers nor do the manage the team other than to set a line up. Wouldn't be the same experience as playing with real people even if some of them have a hard time playing within the spirit and integrity of the game.

Just received this response from another Strat-player,

"I looked at this league, and they should never put a BOT team in the play-offs in any league. In this case they should've chosen the next team as the WC. And if it wins a division, the title and play-off berth should go to the 2nd place team. "

Good grief! We're talking about one team. As far as trades go, I can't remember the last time I made a trade despite making some pretty reasonable offers. So, having one less potential trade partner is hardly going to affect anyone's experience.

Also, the fact that a bot mystery team did that well is against the odds. However, I've seen a (human) manager make the playoffs without making a roster change. What's the difference?

Having a bot is a rare occurrence; I've never seen it. Let's not make the proverbial mountain out of an extremely uncommon mole hill.

PS. Isn't this the same Ducky who years ago took over a terrible team between seasons in a keeper league I ran? If you are and I recall correctly, you did pretty well. You've overcome worse adversity than having to deal with having only have 10 fellow managers in a league instead of 11! :)
