No problem.

I will say in defense of Bill (not that he needs it), that he is Strat-appointed to his role as overseer of this process, not self appointed.
The rest of us are just folks who love the game who have opinions. I guess that makes the rest of us all self-appointed. My only role is posting stats based on the cards, and I just do that because I enjoy it.

I am a relative newcomer compared to those who have already commented on the Dunlap topic, and by no means a Major League Baseball historian (my baseball times range from mid 1970’s to early 2000’s - by which time I soured a bit on the new baseball players). But by playing this game, i have been introduced to the “older” players and history. As an example, using many of the NEL cards, pushed me to read several books on the history of NEL baseball. In the same light, using some of the pre-1900 players such as Barnes and Sweeney prodded me to read about those players as well. So my vote would be to allow Dunlap on the ballet for two reasons: 1) as I mentioned earlier, having these old time players may push others to become interested in the history (as well as having the fun of using some almost mythical players from years way before any of us were alive), and 2) I agree with Big Willie in that, if SOM is going to use NEL players, why not other leagues that MLB had recognized as peers or near-peers? As I have studied the various negro leagues, it seems to me that the quality of competition in some of those leagues was not on par with the overall American or National leagues (although that is based on various judgements of writers/historians, as I certainly wasn’t around then to see the real games). Just my two cents for what it is worth (probably less than two cents) and I ultimately bow to the judgement of the longer term members who know far more about this stuff than I do.

Bill has my full support and has been doing a superb job handling the adds. It is a vast improvement over his heavy handed predecessor.

He has introduced certain minimum standards for plate appearances etc. That said I don't always agree with some of the adds. King and Sweeney are perfect examples of insignificant footnotes who play a huge role in ATG now, utterly incommensurate with their careers. I don't have a dog in the Dunlap hunt, but supporting Bill is more important to me than any particular add.

Since the 1884 Fred Dunlap nomination has been snubbed, I've replaced him at no. 21 with 2006 Jermaine Dye. See below. I thought about nominating Federal League stars 1914 Benny Kauf, OF, .370 8 95 .447 .534 .981 or 1914 Cy Falkenberg, RH S/R, 25-16 2.22 1.116, but I no longer wish to stir the pot on this issue at this time.

1. 2019 Charlie Morton TB SP* 16-6 3.05 1.08whip 0.7 hr/9 AS CY-3 MVP-21. Much needed HUGE addition to the Rays franchise! Great post-season pitcher. The Rays really need more quality cards for franchise leagues.

3. 1898 Duke Farrell WHS C .314/.383/.393 122 OPS+, switch-hitting catcher, one of the more important early catchers, can also steal a base or two
4. 1976 Garry Maddox PHI cf1(-2)e6 .330 BA .377 OBP .833 OPS big improvement over current cards

5. 1992 Juan Guzman Toronto SP 16-5 2.64 ERA 1.15 WHIP, All Star (new card), key SP on the Blue Jay championship teams. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/3310/1690/1/90
6. 1948 Ken Keltner CLE 3B .297/.395/.522 31 HR 119 RBI , one of the top players on the Cleveland BASEBALL TEAMS last World Series Champion. A most underrepresented team in Strat. Possibly the best third basemen of the late 30's and 40's. Joe Di Maggio considered him to be the best at 3B
7. 1998 Scott Rolen PHI 3B. - Won a gold glove and hit 31 homeruns in just his second season in the league. .290/.391/.532. 711 Plate appearances and a competent base stealer racking up 14 this season. Currently Mike Schmidt is the only Phillies exp era 3b with a card. Some Variety perhaps?
8. 1969 Matty Alou Pit .331/.369/.411 OPS-.780 Bats-L BAL-3R CF-2(+2)e8, LF-2 INJ Risk-0

22. 2002 Roy Oswalt, HOU, Throws-R, S7*, 19-9, 3.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 208 Ks (most for Oswalt's career).

24. 1972 Luis Tiant, BOS, Throws-R, 3R Balance, 15-6, 1.91 League Leading ERA. This card would add to our collection of nice non* SPs, strikes a balance between his 11.58m card and his cheap "only use in a small-ball park" 4m & 3m cards.

6. 1948 Ken Keltner CLE 3B .297/.395/.522 31 HR 119 RBI , one of the top players on the Cleveland BASEBALL TEAMS last World Series Champion.

Vaughn 1998 stats vs. RHP & LHP in BA, SLG, OBP, OPS, & OPS+ are nearly identical, so it should be a balanced card. 3 game max injury risk. 1. 2019 Charlie Morton TB SP* 16-6 3.05 1.08whip 0.7 hr/9 AS CY-3 MVP-21. Much needed HUGE addition to the Rays franchise! Great post-season pitcher. The Rays really need more quality cards for franchise leagues.

4. 1976 Garry Maddox PHI cf1(-2)e6 .330 BA .377 OBP .833 OPS big improvement over current cards

5. 1992 Juan Guzman Toronto SP 16-5 2.64 ERA 1.15 WHIP, All Star (new card), key SP on the Blue Jay championship teams. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/3310/1690/1/90
6. 1948 Ken Keltner CLE 3B .297/.395/.522 31 HR 119 RBI , one of the top players on the Cleveland BASEBALL TEAMS last World Series Champion.
Led League in Hits and Doubles, would be a HUGE improvement for him over current 1962 ($.95M) and 1970 ($.90M)

9. 1979 Davey Lopes LA This is his highest eligible career OPS and OPS+ and his 7L AA steal 17 speed gives him nice value. His mystery card fielding 2b320 will be adjusted to at least 315

10.1987 Candy Maldonado SF Bats-R BAL-E RF/LF-3(-3)e7 INJ Risk-15. 14 year career, good run with late 80s Giants, solid player. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/837432/1680/1/80

13. 1916 Amos Strunk PHA Bats-L BAL-1R CF-2(-1)e7, RF-2(-1)e7, 1b-4e21 INJ Risk-3 .316/.393/.421

Vaughn 1998 stats vs. RHP & LHP in BA, SLG, OBP, OPS, & OPS+ are nearly identical, so it should be a balanced card. 3 game max injury risk. Better offensively & on D than the other Vaughn cards in the set.
16. 2014 Victor Martinez DET. Led league in on base and ops. Second in mvp. 172 ops+
17. 1993 Jay Bell PIT Bats-R SS 1e12 .310/.392/.437 Gives Pirates Expansion a solid SS. An upgrade on his Pirates card. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/3823/1690/1/90
18.1998 Brian Jordan STL Bats-R BAL-3L RF/CF-2(-1)e11, 3b-4e37 INJ Risk-3

22. 2002 Roy Oswalt, HOU, Throws-R, S7*, 19-9, 3.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 208 Ks (most for Oswalt's career).
Astros need another Oswalt, this one will have the *. Lots of gbA's

23. 1961 Roberto Clemente, PIT, Throws-R, 1L BAL, RF-1(-6)e10, CF-2(-6)e10, 3 Game INJ Risk
24. 1972 Luis Tiant, BOS, Throws-R, 3R Balance, 15-6, 1.91 League Leading ERA. This card would add to our collection of nice non* SPs, strikes a balance between his 11.58m card and his cheap "only use in a small-ball park" 4m & 3m cards.
https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/742075/1670/1/70
25. 1889 Jack Glasscock SS 582 AB, 31 BB, 128 R, 205 H, 40 2B / .352 / .390 / .467 Glasscock is considered to have been the best shortstop of the nineteenth century.
26.1895 Jesse Burkett Lifetime .339 avg, HOF hit 400+ twice while leading the league in plate appearances 1895 & 1896 his best years
27. 1968 Wilbur Wood RP. We need a Wilbur Wood relief card. We have two starter cards. How about 1968; 88 appearances, 13-12, 16 saves, 159 IP, 1.87 ERA, 1.00 WHIP. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/43163/1660/1/60
28.1979 Gene Tenace SD Padres 463 ABs, 20 Hrs, .263 BA, .403 OBP, C-3(-1), 1B-3 e20, would be a good addition for the Padres in franchise leagues: would make for a great platoon player at either catcher or first base.
29. 1928 Heinie Manush SLB Bats-L BAL-E LF-2(+2)e3, RF/LF-3(+2)e3 INJ Risk-3 Same issue as Mark Grace where its clearly not his best card in SOM. This guy is in the hall so lets treat him as such.
30. 1982 Terry Kennedy- SD Padres. Padres need help behind the plate. This is his best season. 1L balance. Nice power vs. RH's, 2b's vs. LH's. https://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/p ... /1680/1/80
