They are 17-4 in the home stadium which is the Metrodome.

There has been a change in division leadership--Drabb9529's Sandlot Beasts (Hitting Centric) lived up to their name--the Beasts are now 25-14 with a run differential of +19. The Beasts are 18-6 at their Arlington Stadium home. They hold a 3 game lead over Bigdinkent's Great Lakes Gopher Balls. Last weeks second place team--the pitching centric Pitching Rules Hitting led by Cabrera24 had a tough week going 4-17.

West-Pitching centric

This is the race where there have been interesting developments. On Thursday, the YC Bills' Los Angeles Flingers pulled to within 3 games of EnricoPalozzo's EGV Pollos Hermanos. The teams had a three game series. The Flingers won the first two games to pull within 1 game of tying the Hermanos. The Flingers had Roger Clemens on the mound for game 3 of the series. The Flingers took a 3-1 lead going into the 8th inning. A lead off single by Mike Davis brought Gary Lavelle into the game to face Mike Hargrove. Lee Mazzilli pinch hit for the Human Rain Delay and delivered a single. Doug Bair came into to face Butch Wynegar who doubled in both runs to tie the game.

In the 9th, the Hermanos scored when singled which scored pinch runner Greg Gagne--the Hermanos won the game to extend their lead to 2 games.

Last night, the Hermanos swept the DC Scandal Warriors (1st Command Commando) while the Flingers were swept by Juiced JC's Pitch Perfect club.

The Hermanos now lead by 5 games--they have a record of of 77-67 with a run differential of +24.

Wild card race:

Drabb9529's Sandlot Beasts extended their league to 6 games over the Los Angeles Flingers.

In another oddity, only 4 teams are over .500 at this point in the season.

The Great Lake Gopher Balls had quite a week scoring runs---they now lead the league in runs scored. They have score 951 runs 6.60 runs per game. The Boundless Bats are second with 920 runs (6.39 runs).

The Boundless Bats went wire to wire spending the entire season in 1st place--a very impressive feat. The Bats won the division by 23 games over NewCar13s Christmas Shepards who finished 83-79. The Savannah Banana Ballers (Burley Norseman) finished third 76-86 while Fench33's Beaver Pelts finished 73-89.

Central--Mixed

Bigdinkent's Great Lake Gopher Balls (Hitting) completed a very impressive season. The Gopher Balls ended up leading the league in runs scored--they scored 1,076 runs (6.64) runs while only allowing 771 runs--a run differential of +305 runs. The Gopher Balls finished 104-58, 14 games better than wild card winner Sandlot Beasts (Drabb9529), a hitting centric team.
JJB92's Double Trouble finished a distant 3rd 69-93 while Cabrera24's Pitching Rules Hitting concluded the season 63-99.

West-Pitching centric

Enrico Palazzo's EGV Pollos Hermanos won the division with a record of 88-74. The Hermanos, who will be the only pitching team in the playoffs, finished with a run differential of +31. YCBill's Los Angeles Flingers finished 4 games behind with a record of 84-78. Juiced JC's Pitch Perfect club finished 75-87 while 1st Command Commando's DC Scandal Warriors finished with a record of 61-101.

The season completed last night.

As a reminder, the final four consisted of:

The BC Managers BC's Boundless Bats--a powerhouse offense with 1,024 runs scored , the Bats were 106-56, best in the league. The Bats won the hitting division by 23 games. The BC Manager has won 7 championships in his career.

Bigdinkent's Great Lakes Gopher Balls led the league with 1,076 runs scored. The Gopher Balls won the mixed division by 14 games--Bigdinkent has won 21 championships including 14 from the 80s game.

EnricoPalazzo's EGV Pollos Hermanos won the pitching division with a record of 88-74--the Hermanos allowed the second fewest runs. Enrico has only played 10 seasons in the Mystery sets but has made the playoffs 4 times.

The wild card came from the mixed division where Drabb9529's Sandlot Beasts finished with a record of 90-72. Drabb has 13 teams in the mystery format and made the playoffs twice.

In the first round, the wild card winning Sandlot Beasts stunned the BC Boundless Bats winning the series 3-1. The Bats wons the first game but the Beasts won the next three. One 100 win team knocked out.

In the other matchup, the pitching centric Hermanos defeated the hitting centric Gopher Balls 3-1. The two teams with the best records, both scoring over 1,000 runs, were defeated 3-1 in the semi-finals.

The finals: Game 1: The Hermonos defeated the Beasts behind Mike Scott. The Hermanos won 6-5 with Tom Henke picking up the save. Bruce Hurst took the loss for the Beasts.

Game 2: The Beasts tied the series behind Craig Swan. The Beasts won 11-2-scoring 5 runs in both the 3rd and 6th inning. Steve Carlton was hit hard going only 2.2 innings before being relieved by Atlee Hammaker.

Game 3: The Beast scored 10 runs and won 10-5 to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Dwight Evans hit 2 home runs and John Farrell was the winning pitcher. Mark Langston took the loss for the Hermanos.

Game 4: The Beasts continued to score runs----this time, they scored 8 runs winning the game 8-2 behind Ken Schrom. Rick Langford took the loss. Juan Agosto went 3.1 innings to pick up the save.

Game 5: Behind Mike Scott, the Hermanos took a 1-0 lead going into the 9th. In the top of the 9th, the Hermanos scored two more runs when Chilli Davis hit a two run home run to take a 3-0 lead. Tom Henke was on the mound to protect the 3-0 lead and, if successful, would return the series to the Astrodome.

Garry Carter lead off the inning with a home run to draw the Beasts closer, trailing 3-1. Keith Hernandez singled and Chet Lemon doubled putting the tying run in scoring position. Dwight Evans struck out which brought up Jose Cruz. Jose came through--his single drove in both runners tying the game.

The game went to extra innings with neither team threatening. In the bottom of the 11th, Keith Hernandez led off facing Gene Garber--Keith ended the series by launching a home run.

Congratulations to Drabb9529 for winning his first championship in the mystery games. This is the first time in the 3 seasons that a hitting centric team won the championship.

Odds/ends:

The "I should have picked up this hitter--he was on his best year" award: Brian Downing wasn't selected---it was his 1987 season which would have given an owner access to a .272/.487/.873 season.

John Candeleria didnt participate in the league but was on his 1982 season with a ERA 2.94 and whip of 1.16.
