My card was also hacked. I also put a fraud alert on my credit card. Was not sure where all the spam emails were coming from but now I know. This is a huge time consuming problem because I now must contact many many companies using my current email address and give them a new one. Doubt I will feel comfortable purchasing anything else from SOM regardless of what they say.

I don't mean to be contrarian, but I think Strat did a reasonably good job with the credit card breach.

In a world where hackers are getting into companies like Target, the US Military, etc, how much chance does a small company like Strat have? Does anyone really think Strat has the money to pay for full time internet security experts on staff?

They weren't perfect but at least they admitted to it and informed their customers within a few days. How long was the SolarWinds hack going on before anyone was informed? It is not easy to admit you've been compromised. But in the end, the cover up is usually worse than the crime.

OK, I had to request a new credit card and it was a waste of an hour. But really the damage was pretty modest.

There now appears to be a notice posted on the front office page of my active teams. So assume everyone has seen it. Technically since it was only those who purchased in the last 2 months those are the only ones they must notify and probably the only ones they need to notify.

80% of such breaches are the result of human error. Not sure here if this was result of someone accidentally giving away their credentials. But I have noted on many occasions Strat does not encrypt communications to their servers which makes them more vulnerable to getting hacked. To me there is no excuse for not doing this and hopefully they now will.

My card was hacked on Jan. 14 and I wasn’t ever informed - still waiting. I consider that more than a few days. The damage for them is I am done purchasing anything for the foreseeable future.

Regardless of fault, this is devastating to their business. I am really trying to think of how I will purchase credits in the future. Not in a petulant way, but just trying to think how am I going to do it safely? I would rather just send in a check. I know they said doing it through Paypal is still safe but I dont know.

I'll throw in another nod for PayPal. I've never had a problem with them.
