Having Verlander and deGrom is a legit move. Loading up with inj guys because there is a limitation to the game itself, that it won't allow beyond a certain # of inj is "gaming the game". I noticed a lot more of this in the tournament than I usually see. I don't know if it gave a true edge, but the prevalence of use among 'elite' players seems to give evidence that it does. It definitely feels like an extreme "gaming the game" move.

If it being perfected and is truly effective and gives an edge, then that may be a problem in the long run because it's not the same thing as building to a park, analyzing other teams slants etc.

To me seems like a "strategy" the relfects the 2019 set (MLB has become basically HR-K-BB ). There is a ton of cheap power and high injury cards to build a lineup around. As J-Pav alluded to, a winning "formula" is starting with top inning-eater starters allowing for a stripped down bullpen and a Trout, Bellinger or two.

I don't examine other teams that closely, but one thing I noticed is the astounding number of blown saves. My goal was to minimize blown saves. This is why I believe Stud starters were very important to the "strategy".

2019 Verlander is a pig, and not worth even 75% of his salary

No...thank you for that trade, J-Pav! Ive got an outside chance for the most wins by one of my teams... (trade worked for you too--I gave you two elite relievers)

A couple of interesting points you make. Ive been sort of vaguely aware of no ball park single guys but I need to check more into that. The second thing is that three stud players approach. Grazoontite is using that approach in the Barnstormers Finals (dont ask me how I made it--I played ATG like 4-5 teams before this). From what I understand he runs a lot of simulations. When I crunch the numbers I feel like my team matches up well..but not in practice. Ive met my Waterloo with him and the rest of the ATG vets. I felt like I showed up at a poker table at Binions and asked what Texan Hold'em is...

ATG is a whole different animal than 20XX. The elites know each and every card in that vast set. I play for variety and use players I like.

Yep. And I knew I was in trouble when Riggo had determined his rotation order by calculating the percentage of lefties faced by his lefty pitchers and also something called "weighted average ballpark homerun factor". We have entered the Land of Stat Geekdom...

But hey I swept last night so maybe my "Gestalt" approach might have a chance? No, probably not. I face Graz's three-headed monster (Ruth, Snider & Gehrig) tonight...

I learned from Graz's team that in ATG non-strikeout SP have better endurance than strikeout pitchers.

Yep. His pitchers are definitely extremely low strike-out guys. Makes sense I guess as they would likely use fewer pitches. Thanks for the pointer. Definitely something to remember in the future. Interestingly enough, 3 of my 4 guys are deadball guys so theyre low strike-out guys....
