Carlos Correa best defensive SS ever...????

PostSat Mar 13, 2021 8:46 am

So I guess Carlos Correa is tied for the GREATEST fielding SS in history????

Even his imagined is SS-1 E3, Best ever.

So I guess he's better than Ozzie Smith and Omar Vizquel, and tied with Frankie Lindor.?... Okay right...

Also he's not much of a power hitter?... This is bush league.

If you believe he would only make 3 errors in a season that's pretty dumb. If you believe he is the best defender ever at the position, that is absurd.

What happened to SOM's common sense???

This decision alone has really dented SOM's reputation in my eyes. This is worse than video game b.s.

They are seriously telling us that Carlos Correa is tied for the best fielding SS IN HISTORY! Which is beyond absurd.

Does anyone want to take a crack at defending this rating????

Maybe I am missing something???

But I have a feeling what I am really missing is a lot more really sloppy mistakes like this one?

Which mistakes really bother you?

It is also annoying that they let some customers in on the pricing and pre testing but don't tell us who those people are.

So many mistakes that could be easily fixed in a matter of minutes...

Once their reputation for being the most realistic is gone, what's left?

Maybe somebody can dig up Correa's actual fielding stats from 2020. I'm too lazy to do it.

He made one error in 56 games. So 1e3 it is. His range wasn't that special though. Could have been a 2e3. But the error rating is correct

Just one of the more egregious gifts. Stratomatic has a long history of favoring some players with range factors that do not properly align with their skill set.

He ranked 15th among qualified SS in UZR/150 and Defensive runs saved. So yeah, 2e3 or maybe even 3e3 would have sufficed. Xander Boegarts (a 3) ranked ahead of him and Wily Adames who is also a 1 right behind him. To be fair Adames ranked third in range rating and was killed by errors. Correa was 20th in range rating (dead last in qualified shortstops) behind Xander and Tim Anderson.

So looks like we know the e3 is right for the Actual set, based on last seasons stats. That’s at least quantifiable and measurable.

I never really understand their range factors...they obviously don’t use UZR, as outlined above, seems pretty subjective instead.

Not really gonna lose sleep over it, just a blip of inconsistency.
