Dunno if I'd call it a hack, it's just cycling through public URLs and putting the data into a spreadsheet. It's definitely been a big help though! Nothing like you were alluding to about seeing actual draft cards though, seems like the only way to do that would be to hack into actual accounts, which I have neither the knowledge nor lack of scruples required to do.

I don't often quote myself...but when I do there is usually a good reason for it.

Now, as to whether this is scrupulous or not- Ill let others decide.
Its certainly information we don't all have access to, but that alone doesn't automatically mean its right or wrong.

No, that's what I'm saying, we do all have access to it. Go to an ATG roster chart page and just manually start decreasing the ID number in the URL. The pages that come up are what went into my spreadsheet.

But also, that database is worth very little at high caps, because the vast majority of guys you're targeting are owned across 100% of other high cap leagues. So your original point about high caps being more of a crapshoot definitely still stands.

The thing is that Im not sure that is 'supposed' to be public info.
SoM is not very good at keeping their stuff behind walls - as I mentioned, other players have gotten into draft cards the very same way it seems you are describing.

At this point you have the database- and seems like it took a lot of work to get it-
again, Ill let other folks weigh in on how they feel about it.

Yeah no, it's not possible to get into draft cards this way. And draft cards are obviously something that should be secured, but there is no reason for Strat to worry about securing or obscuring old leagues. It's literally just stats and rosters from old leagues that anyone can view, there is nothing illicit about it. It was also helpful in determining what the run environment is like in different parks and at different caps.

I was indeed wrong about the league that I thought Mr. Davidson was playing in under a different name. My bad.

Clearly though Mr. Davidson is a bit full of himself, otherwise he would not have elicited the visceral response that I and many others had to his posts on this thread. Also his characterization of my one post on this thread as "slandering" him, "cyber bullying" him, "antisocial" and "terrible" would seem to identify him as a member of the "woke" generation. My apologizes for triggering his victimization schemas.

That said he appears to be a legitimate player here who probably deserves his success to date. His explication of his methods and his performance in the one completed league that I looked at that I also participated in indicate he knows what he is doing.

This was not a particularly strong league yet austinmdavidson only managed a .549 winning pct. and lost to me in the finals (.574). Still his team was well put together and he apparently is very comfortable utilizing extreme high risk injury players. But he paid a price for that in the finals. Kiermeier went down during game six which i won and was still out for game seven which I won 8-0. In three of my four wins he was shutout twice and managed only 1 run in the the other. So much for his team's manager "max power."

"1. I taught myself to web scrape and assembled a database of 500 ATG9 leagues to see players' popularity at each cap."

I'd like a vomit emoji.

Damn chief, if you'd done a real apology I was going to share my database with the community as a show of goodwill. Instead you admitted your big fat fucking error then proceeded to blame me for your being a hostile asshole (can't say I noticed the "so many others" acting like you btw). Then you pathetically tried to insult me for using extremely anodyne language. If you see the word "terrible" and your response is "whoa slow down there wokester :D " then you officially have brain worms resulting from an irresponsible media diet, sorry to inform you. There is no known cure, but I recommend twice daily ingestion of a media source that is not solely designed to activate the raging persecution complex of the conservative boomer male, that could mitigate the symptoms enough to where you don't end up shot in the face while trying to storm the US Capitol, or alienated from your family because you won't shut the fuck up about how Q says all the Democrats will be executed in the coming Storm.

Yeah you got me in that game 7, but here's the thing chief - I'm only getting better. Guess it's fine for you to post about your 400th ring but if I half-jokingly refer to my early success I'm full of myself and any "visceral" reaction is justified. Cool beans.

Just to clarify how the draft card hacking worked:
you didn't have to get into anyone's account to see em- the process was very similar.
All you had to do was go to the league and add in whatever the draft URL was and you could see who was drafted in what order and who the replacement players were they were given when they missed on a person.

It was shown to me by someone who subsequently alerted SoM to it - have no idea whether they fixed it so it wasn't available or if another hack was discovered since then. Had nothing to do with getting into individual accounts.
