8) It is possible that a manager may have to forfeit picks in the draft in the event that by his cuts, he may picks left however due to acquiring extra picks in early rounds his roster is full. Eg. A manger, through trades, has acquired 2 extra picks in the 1st round, 1 extra pick in the 2nd and 1 extra pick in the 4th and 1 in the 7th, giving him 13 picks in the first 8 rounds. He has also traded away his 9th and 10th round picks. Assuming he only cuts 10 ( which he needs to do to not only get down to 30, but to be able to trade his 9th and 10th round picks), he would be done drafting in Round 6 and forfeit his two 7th and one 8th round picks. He also forfeits the right to trade those picks once it is discovered his roster would be full after round 6. In order to not forfeit those picks, he'd have to make 3 additional cuts.

Thanks. And that makes sense. I'm in favor of adopting that language.

I have a suggestion that wont affect the draft but will help UNC as a one time deal. Why not do a one time thing for him where he gets a 45 man roster instead of 40. He can stash five extra guys who might become something. A big advantage for a rebuilding team. What do you think?

I'm against both letting him draft 1st in each round, or giving him 5 extra picks.

I've joined 2 leagues where I took over a team, neither team was remotely decent. I did so knowing that it would be a rebuilding process ahead of time. We give a prospective manager the ability to see the team ahead of time, so he may make a decision whether or not he is willing to take it over. I've actually looked at a couple of "manager needed" teams in the past, one a 24 team league, and decided it was too steep a climb to get it to respectability. The only "welcome to the league" gift we've given to new owners is the ability to select another ballpark.

Part of the process of taking over a new team is realizing you won't be able to compete for a year. Most (but not all) newcomers I've seen enter leagues, make the common mistake of selecting the present high dollar one year wonder players as opposed to identifying possible long term fixtures that in some cases, might only have a current year salary of under $1. In one league I joined 2 years past, I traded away current assets for longer term ones. One of them was a prospect named Tatis Jr. That allowed me to trade away Trevor Story for Alex Verdugo, a 1st RD prospect pick and a 1st RD supplemental pick. My SS for that year was Amed Rosario.

Rebuilding can be challenging, but fun and rewarding.

I want everyone to know that I knew that this franchise was a "Green Acres" proposition, but that I am not quite as naive as Oliver Wendell Douglas was. I plan to be in this for the long haul and I am happy to abide by the majority decisions of the league owners. I am not seeking charity, but if I had a time machine I would go back and make certain that one particular trade had never happened, lol. I look forward to battling all of you in the future, even if that means a David vs Goliath affair.

This is what I am going to do with UNC's picks...

UNC will move into the 1st draft slot of round #8 (it's currently an empty slot)
UNC will lose his own pick (#4) of the 8th round. Nobody loses anything as a result. There will be 11 picks in this round regardless. Unless Terry drafts out by then...making it 10 (or the same amount of picks will be made had UNC not moved up). We're not giving away picks. Just moving UNC up a bit...starting in round 8 and continuing in rounds 11-17.
UNC still gets first pick in both the 9th and 10th rounds - via trade with Rant
UNC will move into the 1st draft slot of round #11(currently an empty slot)
UNC will lose his own pick (#4) of the 11th round. Nobody loses anything as a result.
UNC will move into the first draft slot of round #12 (currently an empty slot)
UNC will lose his pick that he'd normally have in round #12. Nobody loses anything as a result.
This same pattern goes on for UNC. He only has one pick each round by forfeiting his own pick to move up the three slots. This goes until UNC has accumulated 15 picks (to make his roster full at 40)...which will be in round 17.

We're doing this. I know some may disagree with this but he's not taking any picks away from ANYBODY. He's simply moving up a little and gathering enough picks to fill his roster at 40. These are all my ideas and they are final.

I would actually finish in round 15. I think you lost count :-) The addition of Rant's picks in rounds 9 and 10 via trade bring me back to 10 players in the first 10 rounds.

Division alignments are simple for the first season. Just go down in order from the first four seeds (lowest # of wins)) in cumulative wins from last year so you have seeds 1-4 in one division, seeds 5-8 in another and seeds 9-12 in the other.

I'll be getting home around 1pm, west coast time tomorrow. I may be able to sneak my pick in before I leave in the morning - not certain. Just wanted to let you all know what's up so you may plan accordingly. Especially Jerlins and Eddie who pick after me. :)

If you dont think you are contending this season and are willing to deal your fourth rd FA pick, I am willing to deal any two of Isan Diaz, Maricio Dubon, Kevin Kiermaier, Austin Hays, Jonathan Loaisaga, Adrian Morejon or Alex Reyes. Your chance to get a nice two for one to improve your roster in 2022. First one to post the deal gets it.
