Hello,
I had a situation where I was leading by two runs as the road team with just the bottom of the 9th to pitch through. I had a real good reliever who had already pitched around an inning and a half of work. But he is not the closer. My closer is a better reliever yet and was available to come in. It was not until two runners reached (2nd and 3rd base) that in this case the closer was brought in with no outs. Thankfully he closed the door. But what on earth is that? What pitcher preference or team strategy should I consider changing here? I have "Relief Usage" as normal but not sure if that is even the right setting to change for this. Any suggestions?
