It's A Sad Day

PostFri Apr 23, 2021 3:20 pm

Learned something new today and wanted to share it with everyone...maybe you know already

You go to compose new message in your inbox.

Apparently there is a loophole in the private leagues that allows you to see the divisions you are in after the league is full and not all of the teams are marked as ready... ok that's not ideal, but it goes further...if you click on each person's name it also shows you what stadium they have chosen....this is very concerning to me. Somebody needs to take care of that...like getting rid of that ready for draft button/status.

Below is my message to the league that I was made aware of this glitch/loophole

To me it is a very sad day when a game causes so much dissention. While not accusing big willie of cheating, the fact that he has knowledge of this loophole is concerning. There is an air of unscrupulous behavior there. Yes you let us know, and I guess thank you for that. However now I feel that people do go out of there way to find ways to get an advantage in a GAME!!

I can tell you not even The Last Druid (who is way more accomplished at this game and way smarter than me) wants to win more than I do. I would do anything to win that isn't cheating or unethical. I am an old fashioned kind of guy, a throwback, a dinosaur, etc. etc. I guess I would rather have been ignorant of this so called glitch. Or at least that everyone was.

The good news is this, you don't necessarily win bc you know what the other guy is doing and you change your strategy...does it give you a leg up, yes it does.

The Last Druid (whom many of us consider the best) has kicked my ass in multiple leagues, but guess what, even little old me has gotten the best of him sometimes. I love to compete against the best, ask them questions and learn from what they do. I don't want a cheat code or a glitch to help me...hell I don't even want a spreadsheet loaded with algorithms to help me...my computer is between my ears (weak as it may be)

Beat me if you can but if you cheat, you didn't really win. I never will. I have too much respect for myself and the other competitors to EVER do something like that....that good ole winning percentage ain't worth my dignity or my self respect

This is a 12 month old problem.....it has been reported to SOM online by SEVERAL community members. SOM has ignored all of us that have reported it and has done NOTHING to remedy the situation.

I suspect there are more loopholes than just this one - based both on what I know some people have had past access to and what Ive seen in some leagues-
could be wrong, but given we just had the whole 'data mining' discussion, there is no reason to think folks can't access things like looking at the draft lists of past leagues.

Amen Brother. Just the other day I was saying this. About what I miss about the good ole days.... when you figured all the other managers in your league were drafting their lineups based on reading the cards, relying on past experiences, or just trying something new. NOTon them referring to what they have inputted into their home computers.

Remember, it's still just a game....let's have fun, fair and square.

Maybe Mighty Moose can address this with SOM since it would appear to affect the Barnstormer's Leagues. I will post on Brad's thread, so that he should see it.

Coach, you may have me pegged slightly incorrectly. Winning is not that important to me. What I hate is losing!! In chess I don't mind drawing a third of my games, but I greatly dislike losing any of them. With this game you are probably going to lose at least 40% of the time. I have adjusted my expectations accordingly. As long as I make the playoffs, I'm happy. But even there, winning is so much more enjoyable than losing.

I sent an email with a link to this thread to Garcia AND 365 email (general support) - let's see if we can get a fix. :)

SMH. Hopefully it gets fixed. That's buffoonery. Can people view draft cards too? If so, that would be a whole other issue.

Maybe I am not thinking about it correctly, but it seems like more trouble to try and game the game that way. I guess knowing stadium picks could be helpful, but if it is before division assignments then someone could outsmart themself by changing their draft to account for it. Edit--ok just read the post more closely. Can also be done after full but not all readied.

OK, I guess you could change your stadium if you were "ready", but still. At 80 or 100M there are so many players anyway so I don't get it. Granted, there are a few criminals that roam these parts, but still seems like a minor advantage.

Now I look at those folks without their teams readied and I am wondering...

The question is simple I think: can you gain a competitive advantage if you know what stadium the owners in your division or in the overall league have? Maybe...perhaps...conceivably...if stadiums were trending in a certain way and you thought you could put together a certain sort of team/stadium that would have an advantage against a divisional or league set-up like that. I would not be too worried about it.

From SOM - words in Red you know what that means - from support not Garcia.

"We're going to fix this right away. By the end of the weekend; probably sooner."
