Tim, Steve-
I think you guys are missing the point. Its
a) not just one park
b) it tells you a lot about the availability of players you might be able to get on your card -
especially significant in higher caps.

In addition, if you are planning on using Petco, but see that the other 3 teams in your division are in Polo '41 that could pose a problem for your success causing a shift in strategies.

I agree it can be a significant advantage under certain conditions and am happy they say it is fixed.

To others' points, I also am not sure what the purpose of the "ready" part of the invite system is--if nothing else it slows down SOM's ability to get a league started--expediting league starts is how I thought they generate revenue.

Maybe someone made a big deal about it and they implemented it in good faith without thinking it through.

What bothers me about the whole incident is why SOM ignored Rick's initial concerns. This is a stalwart manager who has certainly contributed to SOM's coffers with his 1176 completed teams. Clearly SOM was able to almost immediately fix the problem. Upon becoming aware of the issue, two days ago, it was clear to me that the only way to get SOM to do anything to fix the stadium cheat was to bring Mighty Moose into the equation. He went toe to toe last year with SOM and they blinked. It is truly sad that SOM only responds to community concerns when faced with the implicit threat of significant revenue loss if the Barnstormers Tour went away.

At this point I have zero respect for anyone named Richman.

They did nothing based on their response from 6 months ago:

Hi Ric,

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you! With the extra activity we've gotten since the pandemic hit and the inherent challenges involved, we've had some hiccups regarding our customer email coverage. We're trying to do better.

I do see exactly what you're talking about. You're right, it's a loophole that should be closed. We will see what can be done about it.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

this is the way it always is--

every single thing takes a serious outrage from the community before the right thing gets done.

just look at the last few months

1. this incident
2. ccs stolen- not until lots of threats do they at least try and make it better
3. new cards- not until people complain that they were do last year do they finally get on it

their promises are hollow - only escalated complaints get action

Ric, perhaps your memory is slipping.

You and I discussed this loophole last June 2020. Both you and I wrote SOM last June and were BOTH ignored....you then followed up in September with MULTIPLE emails before they grudgingly responded to you.

I wrote to them TWICE and after being ignored I gave up, but you sent AT LEAST 5 or 6 messages to them before they lamely responded....of course they did nothing about it. You were relentless and thank you for that.

In playing with SOM almost 9 years now, I have probably sent 20 email requests to SOM for varying reasons. Less than 1/3 of my emails have ever been responded to.

I see what you mean. I was thinking strictly of low cap. I enjoy live drafting, but really don't care much for high cap leagues. I like a league where pitchers can put up some decent number. Seeing Maddux and Koufax with ERA's around 5.00 just kinda turns me off.

Brad

I only posted the response I received from 365 support. My memory is fine. Thanks for asking.

Playing Strat since the late 70s, early 80's. Pretty new to the online stuff, bout a year. I never will understand people who want to win by cheating. It's a game. Where's the satisfaction in winning by cheating? Isn't the challenge to have an even playing field and gain your edges strategically? Anyway, guess I'm just stating the obvious and cheaters won't respond or don't care. I would just wish in something so miniscule in the scope of life, especially in the times we are in right now, that this would really be something that we can all have fun and enjoy FAIRLY!

Not really sure where all the outrage about cheating is coming from when as far as we know from this thread, the manager that started the whole fracas alerted his league-mates to the loophole, so he enjoyed no advantage from it. Not sure why his actions precipitated so much gnashing of teeth over innocence lost and the decline of civilization, including dark insinuations as to his character and intentions. If anything he should be thanked for starting the chain of events that got the loophole closed.
