Dual Franchise League Season 35

This will be the 35th season of the dual franchise league. Salary cap is 135 million, 5% DROP; we WILL be using a designated hitter, no waivers. You MUST have a players card on one of your franchises in order to use him on your roster, unless you acquire a player via trade. In order to use the new cards which were released last week we will use the ATG 1901+ set. Any player with a card from 1946 or later is eligible. If we were to use the subset Bernie had created last year, the new cards would not show. Bernie has informed me he is trying to arrange a new subset and submit it to Strat. I am not sure however how long it will take Strat to create the subset, so for this season anyhow we will have to use the 1901+ set. Thus it will be a lot easier for managers to search for players by using the team dropdown either, expansion, post or pre( for a few cards) as long as the players are 1946 to present. Divisions will be created randomly.

Each manager must pick 1 team from each column below. . A manager has exclusive rights to players on his roster; if a player is on more than one roster, he belongs to the team where his salary is highest. We are using a serpentine draft, so each manager picks one team first and then we reverse the order. List of teams will be posted below. Please sign up using the cut and paste method. Official draft order will follow. ***** One other franchise change this season; the Phillies will be moved back into the original list while the Orioles will be moved into the expansion list. In addition the DBacks and Padres have now been combined as one expansion franchise.
Each team will be allowed ONE Trade only. (Multi player deals will be allowed). However ALL trades must occur after your team has been created. This will allow all of us to follow the various trades. You can agree to a trade while the draft is still going on, but you must draft the player you have rights to and then trade him after the team rosters are created by Strat.

Random thoughts on new cards pertaining to our league rules.....


The Cardinals made some big improvements adding the Mad Hungarian;1975 Al Hrabrosky to their bullpen at 5.05 mil, they also got a good 1977 Ted Simmons at 6.02 mil and a couple of outfielders who could possibly make the roster in Ryan Ludwick and Tommy Pham; a lot more options anyhow.

Kevin Mitchell's highest salaried card is now with the Reds , as if they needed more offense !

Likewise for the pitching rich Dodgers who added 2 more stud relievers to their arsenal with Niedenfuer and Chih Kuo.

The Tigers now own Victor Martinez highest card and also picked up another descent leftfielder in Charlie Maxwell.

The Pirates finally got a shortstop in Jay Bell for 7 mil.

The Whitesox acquired a descent starter Esteban Loaiza and 3 descent relievers in the 3 million range with Politte, Hermanson and Cotts.

Redsox got yet another 9 million $ outfielder in Jackie Jensen.

And although the Marlins still have the rights to Sheffield; he now has a good card with the Padres where he is 3B (2-19) at 7.95 mil.

Twins entire team is a major disappointment save for a couple mid relievers.

There are some other good cards that may make a roster depending on the makeup of the team, but I think the above will have the most impact in our league. I hope this helps the guys who have not had time to peruse the new cards
