Playoff Picture entering the 90's playoffs

Here's the way things look right now. Remember, of the teams still left in the 90's playoffs, each will get either 0 more points if they lose in the semis, 5 more points if they lose in the finals, or 10 more points if they win their championship. The teams in green have already clinched a spot in the top 24, the team's in yellow are in a spot right now but have not yet officially clinched but are still in their 90's playoffs and could get more points, the teams in blue are in a playoff spot right now and will not get any more points becuase they are not in the 90's playoffs, and the teams in red are still alive. A couple of notes - it's likely that some of the teams at the top of the yellow group have already clinched if the teams below them are competing in the same 90's league for the same 5 bonus points. Also, Axlerod Gunderson and markmorrison are dead tied in 24th, so as of right now one would lose out in a tie-breaker.

I believe Jimmy C, Pushpin, killermarc and AdamKatz have clinched because MoodyWoody and BretHOF are in the same league and can't both win the championship (wow, what a stacked league with #1, #4 and a two time champ all in the playoffs with #8 in the tourney unable to make the playoffs) and stratorat and MoodyMets aren't gaining any more points. But of the bottom 9 (who are in the playoff chase) with a chance, the other 7 are all in separate leagues, which means we all have a chance to win a championship or lose in the first round.

There is a slim chance of a 5 way tie at 378 for the 24th spot!!

Takanahana and stratorat have now clinched as Merkle08, BretHOF, and Axlerod Gunderson went down to defeat last night. Brian Straub is in his league's championship but has to win that to have a chance at the top 24. Nobody has been eliminated but some are hanging by a thread as markmorrison, Moodywoody, myself, and daveaq31 are all up 3-2 in our series. My series has been brutal with 3 of my hitters getting plunked and injured in the first two games as I got swept and then two of Rube's guys getting injured for the rest of the series as he got swept in the two games that next night (one hbp and one pitcher injury).

Update on the morning of 5/14 - Moodywoody and I move on to the finals in our league but it guarantees us nothing yet. markmorrison and daveaq31 are playing game #7 tonight. A win for markmorrison and he's in the Final 24 (and he forces me to have no chance other than winning the league championship) but a loss means he's out. Axlerod Gunderson and BretHOF have now been elminated.

Keep in mind that the 5 additional points that teams that made the 90's finals have earned have not yet been applied to the standings - that happens after the finals finishes (winner gets 10, loser gets 5). So unofficially, here is what I think the situation is...Takanahana and stratorat have clinched a spot in the top 24 after the way the 90's semis finished. Again, this unofficial but I believe it to be true.

Of most interest is whether the legendary Moodywoody will make it in to the top 24 and stay alive. He either has to win his finals (vs. franky35, what a series) or have djkalle, daveaq31 or brian straub lose their finals. If djkalle loses in the 90's finals there would be a 3 way tie at 374. Moodymets has the tie breaker for all 3, but then djkalle has the tie breaker over BretHOF.

I believe jmdziuban2 is in because he has the tie-breaker over merkle08 and only four of us can pass him. BretHOF is currently in 25th place and is out. brian straub does have 372 points so he will not be involved in a tie-breaker.

Right you are Chuck - even though brain straub has the tie breaker on jmdziuban2 if he wins his series, jmdziuban2 would still grab the 24th spot in a worst case scenario for him due to the tie-breaker over merkle08.
