Salty... Biggio would have been a nice addition but I never had the opportunity to Coach him. The player I Coached actually has an ATG card greater than $10 million. I try to claim credit for his year, but no one is buying it.

That is certainly a very reasonable inference. But Kershaw grew up in Dallas while Arrieta grew up in Plano...and he said he had coached 3 major leaguers so I am thinking that is more likely to have occurred in Dallas rather than Plano.

Steve in NYC here. 65, with wife, three daughters, dog. Grew up on Long Island, Mets, Jets, Islanders. 1969 was the year with the Jets, Mets, then the Knicks. Thought it would always be like that. Have suffered a bit since, but it was all worth it for 1969.

Jon Freeman (I'm gonna have to get him to write a blurb) got me into Strato. First the board game. Then he assured my concerned wife that playing the online game would not take up much time. She hasn't forgiven Jon.

Strange seeing much love of Tull here - they were one of my faves back in the day. Dylan, Kinks, Neil Young, the Clash, the Dead, and on and on. Also love to travel. I used to do that months at a time, now I mainly do it in my mind. I end up naming many teams after some of the great places I've passed through.

Did a stint as a lawyer, but now I run a business. We spend alot of time, especially this last year, at our second home upstate in Columbia County. Overall I've been lucky.

As a follow up Steve's post, all I can say is, "I just led the horse to the water..."

I'm Jon Freeman. 56 y/o, semi-retired Psychologist (Clinical/Neuropsych) and now own and run several board game cafes in the NYC/Brooklyn areas (The Brooklyn Strategist, Hex & Company). Was directing a Manhattan-based, CRO's, Neuroscience Research division, actively participating as Clinical Faculty for the Sleep Medicine Fellowship and holding a private practice before burning out. Married with two kids (oldest now in college) and have a big fluffy dog.

Been playing Strat since the early 1970's (baseball, football) and was introduced to ATG III by Jonathan of "Katz Killers". My grandmother was friends with Hal Richmond's mother and she brought me my first copy of the game. Been enjoying the online versions of the games over the years but still prefer the face-to-face game. Playing in a F2F league (IMBA) that's a ton of fun and yes, a bit time consuming (it's a keeper league and each team can basically draft a farm system of current players and any future prospects - I drafted Torkelson this year). There will be some openings next season if anyone is interested.

In my semi-retirement, I've been rekindling my love of music. Been playing guitar for 40+ years and started taking lessons with a monster player (D_Fuze from Screaming Headless Torsos/Berkley School of Music) over the last several years and only wish I had more time to play. Play in a band with a bunch of other talented folks all pretty much in the same life-boat as me (you can check out New Yeller on Spotify if interested). Been seeing and playing live music for a long time. Huge Zappa-head, Dead head, Little Feat, Allmans Bros, Coltrane, etc and have seen some really classic shows over the years.

In any case, Life-long Yankee fan and can't help root for the Mets. I've enjoyed playing with and learning from all of you. Perhaps my favorite part of this game is figuring out each of your patterns and then trying to bust them up while simultaneously tinkering with my own meta strategies. Can't say it's a hugely successful approach but it's fun. Thanks to everyone that contributes to this pretty cool baseball nerd community.

Robert here similar age and taste in music- Not a Met fan though strictly Yankee-Giant and in Basketball grew up fan of the Celtics so 1969 was not fun for me.

Allen Ray, 59 year old resident of Queens, NY, and a Strat-O-Matic fan since the 1973 card set. Took the moniker Aray0113 for my name (A-Ray) and birthday (01/13) ... creative names fail me most days, lol.

Lifelong Mets Fan, got to see Willie Mays' last season, the "Ya Gotta Believe" team which made an 11 year old boy think that anything was possible in baseball. Had my heart broken with the 1977 Midnight Massacre, but loved every minute of the 1986 season, including the nail-biting WS Game 6.

I'm a proud 1983 Graduate of St. John's University, where I was team manager for basketball, soccer and baseball - got to see John Franco pitch a perfect game at our ballpark (didn't realize it WAS a perfect game until the final out, lol), and got to witness Frank Viola's greatness as well - the memorable pitching duel with Ron Darling of Yale being the highlight game way back in 1981.

I found the online game in 2004, and after I played the 21 game free trial, I was hooked!
I've been fortunate to find people who were gracious enough to let me know how badly my teams were constructed in my early years - Visick, Geekor and J-Pav in the 20xx games in particular. The game has helped me get through some tough times, and helped me celebrate some great ones as well. My favorite seasons were the 1969 and 2005 seasons - I learned how to build good Minute Maid and US Cell teams there. I just wish that I could get credit for all those years I played - no one seems to know that I had teams then, sadly.

I found the ATG series by accident, and after much trial and error (mostly error), and also with a lot of help from andycummings65 and Dacelo, I had my first playoff team ... in Polo '34, of all places. Along the way, I've met some very nice and helpful people, a lot of great competition, and a chance to relive a bit of my childhood through these games.

That's kind of neat, I too had the fortune of coaching a couple of minor league baseball players back in the day, the only problem was that I coached them in youth FOOTBALL ...

Not a baseball player, but I had he pleasure to coach Reggie Wayne on my first attempt a coaching freshmen football.

I'm Gene, 70 years old, and started playing the Strat-o-Matic dice game in 1963. I think that may have been the second season of Strat's existence. Grew up near Green Bay and was a Milwaukee Braves fan growing up. We did an annual visit to County Stadium to see that Braves play, usually a doubleheader, to get our money's worth. Loved watching Henry Aaron and Warren Spahn, and visiting stars like Mays, Clemente, McCovey, and Gibson. After they left for Atlanta I became a Cubs fan because I could listen to their games on WGN. Moved to the Twin Cities to become a corporate accountant, and became a Twins fan (hard to be one this year Retired about 9 years ago and started playing the on-line version. I enjoy the competition, picking out the team rosters, and occasionally making the playoffs.
