The Duffers got off of the mat after a horrific first night to go 6-0 since then...my high ba/on-base team has been that so far with a .278/.361./.394 line ...no pitchers with catastrophic numbers...yet...In Search Of Mystery: why did I get Swanson when he hits like .250 on his card in my home park?

1-5 now vs those Sluggers!

Well. We're dead last in hitting and near last in Pitching. Safe to say this experiment didn't work. 3-12 to start. I'll stick to what I know works from now on.....lol. might be a long season.

Well, predictably, we didn't do too well without Belt and Pinder, but at least we won one.

Finished the trip through the division in second with an 11-7 record. We've been very streaky so far. Either really good ore pretty meh.

Nightmarish melt-down last night. First game was a 14-0 laugher the Slugs won. Second game up 5-2 and with two outs in the 9th an X chance to my 5e51 pitcher got booted, followed by a passed ball, followed by another X chance to my pitcher who again boots it. Sometimes Hal just decides youre going to lose....

Slugs' Manager: "Changes will be made! Starting with extra fielding practice for the pitchers..."

Ugh! 15-9 would have looked so much better than 14-10...

Changes were made. Got rid of Swanson and upgraded my closer a tad and got Hader instead of Barnes who has been awful...

Duffers still are unsure of their identity and just got a bad case of the injury bug.

Got swept by Splinter last night, no shame it that, he's got a fine team, BUT we left 36 LOB in three games including 16 in game one! Ouch.

Well, only left 25 on tonight but only managed to win one. Not sure this team is any good, but we have lots of Giants!

As a Dodgers' fan I want to point out that that's not necessarily a good thing...

A man walks into the office of the Slugs' manager...

Tanner Houck: "I want a raise!"
Manager: "Wait...havent I cut you yet?
Houck: "I repeat: I want a raise!"
Manager: "hmm, that's right,I would have cut you except the cap hit would have been too big..."
Houck (throws down a newspaper): "Look, I'm second in the Cy Young voting. I deserve more money!"
Manager: "How is that possible? Youre not even the second best pitcher on my team. And our pitching stinks! You have a 4.75 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP."
Houck: "Winning is all that matters baby! I have a .750 winning percentage--I'm like the new Pete Vuckovitch. He was 18-6 with 1.5 WHIP--some pitchers just know how to win."
Manager: "Some pitchers are just lucky! And anyway genius Vuckovitch had a 3.34 ERA and your ERA is 4.72--big difference."
Houck: "The writers must know something..."
Manager: "No they dont...they put Jim Rice in the Hall of Fame didnt they? Now get out before I do figure out a way to cut you!"

Another so-so team. My teams generally have been not bad this year--had a 93-69 team and a 87-75 team--but mostly look like 87-75 teams. Or worse! My current teams still in the regular season: 65-55, 59-46, 33-27 and 17-13. You know, eh. Certainly dont look like 95 win teams and are not even sniffing 100. Had two clunkers--a ghastly 74-88 Great American Team where 6 of my starters had terrible seaon--5 under .300 on-base, and another with . 313 on-base and a .413 slugging. Team on-base of .294. And a Angel Stadium team with a. 289 on-base. Both of those team got dragged down by Albies and Crawford. Just ghastly lines. I focus on getting high on-base and of course power in those high-low bp singles stadiums like Great American and would like something around .320 and under .300 on-base teams just dont win. But I learned from my mistakes (no more Albies, Crawford...and Judge who was terrible in Great American). Well, except for Swanson who had a cringe-worthy .198 .268 .314 line in a full-season at Petco...and decided thank you sir may I have another and signed him again for this league! This no* rule--while realistic and of course necessary--has put a crimp in my strategies.

I though I had put together a good high avg Kaufman man--team has .273 .343 .416 line with 370 hits more than the opp--but a 39-45 start did not help. It's now 65-55 but still headed just for pretty good...

And so it goes. No one seems to be playing this set so not sure I will have too many more opportunities...
