Since 2003, a group of us have been playing three leagues a year with the previous season’s cards.
The first of these has typically been a $100 million league with all the player cards in the pool. The second has been an $80 million league using only N.L. players and the third has been an $80 million league using only A.L. players. Since SOM set up the live draft interface to allow long time slots for picks, we have been using that and it has worked pretty well.
We finished up our $100 million league using 2020 Actual cards and are now ready to get going on our N.L.-only league. (Note that A.L. and N.L. is determined by the team listed in the Player Set Browser, so players who switched leagues during the season are only eligible for the league where they ended the season.)
We do need two and perhaps three replacements (haven’t heard back yet from one team owner). One of the people being replaced is James Zimmer (a.k.a., Zim13), who passed away in April and proceeded to posthumously win our first league of the year. We have named the current installment of the league in Zim’s honor and the optional team name theme is to do something related to the Boston area, where Zim lived. It would be great to get replacements who played SOM online with Zim through the years, but that’s not necessary.
We would definitely like someone who will be able to keep up with a live draft. We will have three hour windows (enforced from 10 am ET to 10 pm ET, 7 days a week), but typically we move a lot faster than that, especially after the early rounds, and get done in about a week or less. If you won’t be able to make a draft choice, I will pause the draft if you let me know ahead of time. If you time out, you are likely to be assigned an ineligible A.L. player, which you’ll need to correct after the draft before the league begins. I’m not planning on rolling back the draft to re-pick due to A.L. players being chosen after the first two rounds (and I hope I won't have to do it during the first two rounds, but sometimes people get things set up wrong).
We do select unique stadiums as part of the draft. This should be one of the N.L. ballparks. (I will need to pause and roll back if anyone selects an A.L. stadium, as that cannot be corrected after the draft. So don’t do it.)
If the draft is rolled back, there is no selecting of players whose picks “fired” after the ineligible player/stadium was selected.
We will play with the D.H. since all teams used the D.H. in 2020.
I will set up the draft start time after we fill the league.
Let me know if you are interested and I will send an invitation.
