Why bother to have a "1" fielder?

Can anyone explain how a SS-1 gives up a single on a GB X? With the bases loaded? And 2 out? Leading to a 5-run inning?

I believe this occurs when the entire infield is playing in, under super-advanced rules - see section 20.61 of https://stratomatic365.fandom.com/wiki/ ... b.28.29.2B

Why would the infield be in if there were 2 outs?

It might have been a rare play thing--(not sure on that, can't remember the chart) )but if two were out, the infield should not have been in.

Also if a runner was being held, the fielders rating drops by one if he is responsible for taking a throw or holding him on. (SS for LH batter, 2B for RH batter, and the 1B man typically)--but with bases loaded and 2 out why was he held???

It was not a Rare Play--found my chart, all RP result in force-outs somehow after hitting the pitchers mound.

My best guess is runners were being held--though again with two outs, why??
