deGrom 2021

PostThu Jun 24, 2021 7:46 pm

What an amazing year Jacob deGrom is having. The sports commentators struggle to explain how phenomenal he has been. For us Strat-O-Matic fanatics, our perspective is what would his card look like. Would it has zero hits & walks? Considering it would be a non-* SP, how much would this card cost?

I would think SOM would have to create a card with zero hits or walks. Even then, it's doubtful even in an extreme pitcher's park, he would be able to keep his ERA under 2.00. My guess is that his card would be somewhere in the 9 to 9.5 million range, and wouldn't be worth the price in an $80 million league. Those owning him in keeper leagues should be happy at least.

You know you’re having an incredible year when a simulation game can’t even replicate your results!

Check out the 2021 Baseball Daily game for a look at his current card $9.28, no hits/walks vs righties, vs lefties, a walk on 3-9 and a couple of double and HR splits (1-2) on a couple other numbers. No ballpark singles or HRs either.

All SP are now non-*SP now in the 20XX game.

I agree with those that have said he would not replicate his numbers but he would still be the best SP in the deck which is all that matters.
