My first team swept the next 2 games in the finals last night, thanks to the pitcher's hitting to get into the playoffs.

cannot argue against the the rationale presented or the logic of the conclusion it leads too,

my opposition (to the DH) is as much aesthetic as anything else, based on Abner (Doubleday)'s original conception of the game - supposed to be 9 on 9.

and face it, as you grew up, even well into HS ball, the pitchers were usually also the best hitters SSs, 3bs, or OFs, even Cs and thos players were rarely relegated to 2b or 1b, so I take the point about the game being intended to have 9 good hitters in the lineup

but I remember the old Prime 9 show MLB network used to air ( I think it was MLB network) remember how it made 9 an iconic element of baseball lore?

9 is baseball - it is a 9 on 9 game, the DH ruins that. it is an aesthetic perspective

bottom line: DH leagues s/b $90m cap.

So if you have a DH you spend more on hitting because you have one extra hitter slot to fill and don’t need to spend as much on the bullpen.
If you have no DH your bench isn’t quite as strong because you have to invest more into the bullpen as you will use it more.
