Now I'm totally confused. In his post Phil said "We are offering contracts to carded players who were eligible in January but were not drafted. Players who did not meet the pandemic eligibility requirements in January are still ineligible." Now with the updated list of available pitchers, guys like Erasmo Ramirez ( not carded in 2019 and short of the 30 IP) and Tejay Antone (debuted in 2020 and therefore a prospect) are somehow available. It seems we're back to anyone with a card in 2020 being eligible. I was only bidding on Andriese if pitchers like Antone and Ramirez were unavaliable. Also what does the asterisk beside some of the avaiable pitchers names mean?

The list is NOT accurate. Unfortunately, I cannot produce and accurate list. It is a list of carded players who are not on a team roster or the waiver wire. If they are on the list they are POTENTIALLY eligible, but you need to check if they meet the minimum requirements. My life has been unmanageably hectic this year, so this is the best I can do with the time available to me. I’ll check the offers to see if the players qualify.

Phil I think the only remaining question is whether 2020 debuters like Antone are eligible in the supplemental FA draft. They are not eligible in the preseason FA draft.

I'm sorry for all the confusion. My wife has been undergoing treatment for lymphoma since March and I'm swamped with work, child care, etc. I haven't had time to look through the discussions at the beginning of the year. Since Tejay Antone seems to be the ideal eligibility case here, let me try to understand and explain. His rookie year in MLB was 2020, so he was ineligible for FA but eligible for the draft. Since he was undrafted, and meets the 30+ IP requirement, he should be eligible for the FA signing period. Is that everyone's understanding?

what draft are you referring to? we don't have a draft, just free agency. did you mean the prospect draft? don't think he was eligible for that either as he had prior mlb experience

He means the prospect draft. Antone was ineligible to be signed as an offseason FA because 2020 was his MLB debut, but was eligible to be drafted as a prospect b/c he was carded (i.e., just like Victor Gonzalez, who I drafted as a prospect, and have now promoted for season 2). Phil goes on to say that Antone CAN now be signed in this supplemental FA period, because the only requirement is that he's carded and pitched at least 30 IP. It no longer matters that 2020 was his debut.

So, with that clarified, Oldmansmith should be able to nominate the first player.

Phil just confirmed this to me over PM, so Old can nominate a player now if he wants to. Including someone like Antone...

"did you mean the prospect draft? don't think he (Antone) was eligible for that either as he had prior mlb experience"

this is incorrect. Antone debuted in 2020.

Teamnasty has it correct. Antone was eligible for the prospect draft as 2020 was his mlb debut. Since he went undrafted he is now an eligible free agent.
